Hawthorn? 5 minutes before 3/4 time no more than a goal or 2 in it, got (I think) the last 2 of the quarter and then we blew them away in the final term......
This is the sort of thing I'm talking about and it's something that I can't recall us doing too often in recent memory. In fact the last time we did it was the Melbourne game in round 3 last year, where it was a scrap early on and then we broke the game open and kept the foot down the whole way. People will suggest the Hawks Lions and Dogs games later in the year as being the same but in those games we were in front early and simply extended the lead as we went. What I'm getting at is that killer instinct where we're in a tight game early and then are able to break it open and put a side away.
I get your point RT, and If it wasn't for inaccuracy on Sunday, we'd have built up a 10-12 goal margin over the course of the game, and perhaps if we'd kicked 11-5 at half time instead of 7-9 they may have dropped there heads......
I was frustrated as hell that we didn't get the comprehensive winning margin that I was expecting (hoping for) before the game.
Taking a step back I think we are yet to see our best this year and when we click we'll start blowing some teams away, and (like last year) it may not be the ones we expect. But more importantly, I just want us to beat (by whatever margin) every team in the bottom 8.
Under the circumstances I am happy for us to have had to tough it out in the lead up to Saturday night.
