Okay our team is filled with awesome midfielders, but we still need to develop the youngsters, so who should be the 3 in the engine room with Porter/Hale next season? Is Stevens time in the middle up? Who do we rotate in their from the bench? Grant...Flank or Centre? Harvey Forward or Middle? What do you think?
In My Opinion Adam Simpson is our number one man, He would be dominating anyone else in this region for clearances, He had a league season record of 13 with Smokin' Joe in round 12, and Sam Mitchell equaled that a few weeks ago. Having this sort of player around the ball is vital, he is one of the best clearance players in the competition, and easily the best 3rd man up in the AFL. Adam Simpson is our number 1 middle man.
Our 2nd vital cog who has showed late this season he isnt afraid to get his hands dirty is Danny Harris. This 21 year old will throw himself into any contest for the good of the team, and when kicking forward somehow manages to hit forwards on the chest as they burst on a lead. Danny is our 2nd Engine Room Player in my opinion.
The last 2, pretty obviouschoices, now the third. In My Opinion, Brent Harvey. I know some name him in the forward 50, though his ability to carry the ball and break a line is so valuable to the team. He can take on his opponent, and 9 times out of 10 will defeat him. Boomer is fast, has good set of palms and those running torps are just awesome. Brent Harvey our number 3 Engine Room player for 2004.
The Sub: Anthony Stevens, In what I feel will be his lasty year of footy. 33 next season Stevo still has what it takes to play midfield football, but 120 minutes a game? I dont think his body can handle. I would love to see Stevo take on a new role this year in our backline and sub through the midfield, his ability to intimidate his opponent just by simply going so damn hard at the ball and putting everything on the line is champion like. This guy is still a value to the engine room.
Pinch Hitters: Corey Jones, Shannon Grant, Jeremy Clayton, Daniel Wells, Michael Stevens... One of tyhese players who ever suits the situation.
Notes:I would love to see Grant permenantly on a HFF, so dangerous around the sticks. And IMO Ben Robbins hasn't a lot to offer our club, don't see him playing much footbasll this year and thats if he isnt traded.
Development: Would love to see games with maybe injuries have occured, to see Blake Grima and Ash Watson step onto the plate, though I see Ash more a wingman Blake definatly a centreman.
