It's a shame that Krakouer went off the rails. He had that x-factor magic. Kicked the impossible and also set up goals.
He could have played a couple of more seasons.
We do not currently have anyone at the club that could do the magic things.
Too bad dick was fragile. He would have been perfect to take over the crumbing role.

I wish Andy was still with the Pies.

I do too but their is no use keeping an player who got 9 games last year even when he was available for selection most of the time.

I don't know if this is a fair comparison but could he be like Nathan Fyfe?
I wouldnt think so, watch the 2013 nab cup GF on youtube. I personally think from that game he moved around the ground alot like Steve Johnson.

Well i thought he might be like Fyfe because of his height and speed but I've never really seen him play.

Steve Johnson or a tall Didak is not a bad comparison for how Karnezis plays. Not to that level, obviously. But he'd be good on a HFF as a lead up forward with some stints on the wing and midfield if he proves himself worthy of a game. May push Macaffer out of the team, or they may become a bit of a double act if it comes to that.

unfortunately we should not persist with the Witts-Grundy combination until Witts proves that be can expose smaller defenders. As stated in the OP, when the ball hits the deck the ball was just flying out of the forward line.

To me, Jessie White is the prototype of the the KPP pressure forward.... his athleticism enables him to play as the third tall target and second ruck slot.

I think we have 4 locks in the forward 50 as shown below;

HF: ?, T.Cloke, ?
F: J.White, B.Reid, J.Elliott

basically leaving the two half forward positions available for the combination of; Macaffer, Blair, Fasolo, Kennedy, Adams of one of the rotating superstars like Beams, Swan or Pendlebury.

I think when fully fit and firing, Fasolo must come in to one of those flanks... we desperately need his goal sense, and scoing prowess in that forward 50.

Can someone please explain to me the different styles of forward and how they are most beneficial to our current standing team? I understand what a crumbing forward is, but what exactly is a flanking forward? or a lead up forward? i imagine that is like a player that leads into the ball? like runs to cover the space between himself and the ball?

Lead up forwards excel when they make leads that draw kicks to them. Although not a small forward, Nick Riewoldt is the purest example of a lead up forward in the league today.

Not sure about a flanking forward, but maybe HFF which refers to a forward that plays on the half forward flank. Usually a lead up or link player that is part of the midfield rotations. Dwyer played the role last year.

Blair is our best crumber. He's not great at everything but he is our best crumber.

Beams is next best but a fair way behind.

We need a crumber that kicks more goals than games played.

Karnesis? he isn't exactly a small forward either.

Maybe we could get some players surgically reduced in size so they can be a small forward. Witts might make a great small forward if his legs are downsized

HF: Karnezis, Cloke, Fasolo,
F: Sidebottom, White, Elliott,

Rotate mids through Sidebottom, Fasolo, and Elliott's spots. Kennedy also needs to spend a good deal of time up there.

If he is ever up and running: PK can play as a third marking tall and crumb a little.

Allows us to keep Reid back so he can sneak forward occasionally and catch out a mismatched opponent Harry Taylor style.

He will kick the 22 goals per year if he permanently plays forward but not much more. Blair is the perfect 21st player but not a specialist small forward. It's an indictment on our club that we have had 4 in the last 5 years of real quality (Medhurst, Dick, Krakouer and Davis) and let them go and now have none.

Yeah i think we need a small "crumber" that can kick at least 30.

Our small forward has to be Ben Ken.
Being a midfielder in the making, he is used to being at the fall of the ball, he's quick, doesn't mind a contest, has good evasiveness, has a decent defensive side, knows where the goals are and has good foot skills.
He has Forward Pocket written all over him.

Yes but in tiny, tiny print lol

With what's currently on our list:
Talls: Cloke, Reid and White or Cloke, Witts and White occasionally.
Mid/Small options: Elliott, Fasolo, Sidebottom, Dwyer, Kennedy and Blair.
Rotating mids: Swan and Beams at times.
Actual crumbing options: Probably only Dwyer, Blair and Kennedy from what I've seen.
Personal preference at the moment:
Sidebottom, Cloke, Fasolo
White
, Reid, Kennedy/Blair [one on the bench]
