Maybe something to do with Gryffindor...like from Harry Potter or something.

Like Griff, dressed like Harry, with a heading 'Go Griffindor'

That sounds pretty cool and funny, but I don't think I have the required skills to make such a banner :p I like Tegriffic, unless I can come up with something better than that in the next few days, well...Tegriffic it is.

Quick question: how do you think Griff's mobility compares to that of Cox? He is the benchmark in that department overall.

Right up to it in all respects, which is why I often state that Griffin reminds me of a young Dean Cox.

If Griff keeps improving at his current rate he could be anything!! :thumbsu:

agree 100% - deep tall marking option.....:thumbsu:

ie

Bode, Welsh, Griffatron
Perrie, Bock, Bird

That's an extremely top-heavy forward line.

My suggestion: Bock to CHB, Perrie to CHF, small/midfielder (Thompson) to HFF.

I like the idea of playing the Griffatron deep in the forward line.

An extremely impressive performance. Without the injuries would he have been playing in Centrals 1st's or resies at the start of the year? (I had a feeling he was only in the 2nd's last year)

Griff to FP, Hudson & Maric to share rucks from the bench. Griff to take the ruck duties in the forward line with the other ruck dropping back to fill fill in the hole for the leading forward.

Fair call - with Bird and Welsh playing as medium size players.....ie roaming and leading forwards respectively - maybe it could work....but I agree that one HFF is traditionally better served by rotating a midfielder through.

Didn't Craigy say recently if it wasn't for injuries he wouldn't be playing and then something like "the kid has been brought in before he is ready". Let's hope the good form of Van berlo, Griff and Knights will make the AFC rethink their conservative attitude when it comes to blooding youngsters.
Spot on. If Biglands hadn't gone down in the preliminary final Griffin wouldn't have played a game this year. And if Maric/Meesen hadn't got injured he might not have even played a preseason game. Everyone is saying he's the next Shaun Rehn and what a gem we've uncovered - the reality is that he is playing by default.

there's a lot of speculation in your "reality" :p

Reality is he has been given an opportunity by default and grasped that opportunity .....and that's not by default

Yes, it's true, he got his first 4 or so games by default.

But now, I think he truly owns the #2 spot, and he has done wonderfully to take the opporturnity with both hands.

In 2 years, barring injury, if he puts in solid preseasons, gains some weight, etc, he will be our #1 ruckman.

And, he may well be a very good one at that.

Of course there is.

Based on the reality though that Maric played 8 games last season, 100% of them when there was an injury to one of Clarke or Biglands.

But are young players' opportunities dictated too much by our injury count?

WRONG! :)

First Showdown last year, belting down with terrential rains, Clarke, Biglands AND Maric all played for the Crows ;)

Yes ...but that often is the case in most sports unless your an elite talent and demand to be played.

I'm sure there are some players who may have made it but fell by the wayside due to lack of opportunities ...such as injuries opening up spots.

You'd have to say making the Australian Cricket team is probably the best example
