I'm a bad teacher. Partially because I'm very impatient and to people who actually play chess, I suck.

Do you know how each piece moves, how to take pieces, how to castle, en passant?

Try the "Rules of Chess" section here.

The best way to get a feel for the tactics and things like that is to just play against a very easy opponent at first. There's no point learning openings or gambits until you have some experience.
