There is a story about Apple, unlike a lot of tech companies, not having a "Chief Innovation Officer". When asked about this, someone from Apple (maybe Steve Jobs or Tim Cook) said that being innovative is not the singular role of one person, bestowed upon them with a title, but something that must permeate the culture of company from the CEO down, and that having someone titled "Chief Innovation Officer" is just a sham.

I think the same applies to politicians being titled "Honourable". Or the AFL having an integrity officer.

You only get the "Honourable" monicker if you become a Minister. I am pretty sure we are safe from Des grabbing such a gig.

Hawkins, Wirrpanda and now Headland.

Who decided that football players would make good political candidates?

I remember Mal Meninga trying it. His "campaign" lasted about 3 minutes.

Mal's spectacular press conference implosion should be required viewing for any sportsperson considering political office. For the rest of us, it's pretty entertaining!

upper house members are all "the honorable" while they are sitting. IIRC if you are in the cabinet for a term, or do more than 2 terms as an upper house member then you can "keep" the title. Though most of them keep using it regardless.
