With the news that the West Coast Eagles are going to get yet another Priority Pick to help "the best run club in the land", I thought it would be nice to carve out a bit of space for Clubs that haven't had priority picks (or other assistance packages) given to them by the AFL.

If you're a supporter of the following clubs, you're welcome to post here:
  1. Geelong
Supporters of rabble clubs can post elsewhere in the Bay :)

Like I said elsewhere rewarding incompetence never works. Just look at the US for an example.

Some clubs simply wouldn't survive if we had a relegation system. Norf, Richmond, West Coast all finished bottom 3 two years running now, give me a good reason why they shouldn't be playing VFL and WAFL in 2026. Their supporters would be able to enjoy seeing their team win more than a handful of games a season too.

Under the table "assistance packages" are just as pathetic tbh

Alright so over lunch I've pondered this some more and I think for the relegated AFL teams ie Norf and Spoonmond you'd have to at least finish in the top 10 of the VFL before being admitted back into the big league. So under my proposed system you'd likely see those two teams spend a few years in the VFL until they can work their way ahead of Frankston and Willamstown etc before eventually rejoining us in the AFL in the latter part of the decade.

As for West Coast, footy in Perf is just about dead, I think the WAFL is kaput or something too, so a mandatory two year 'get your shit together' before being welcomed back. Thoughts?

Seems reasonable.

Otherwise well run clubs will have their draft picks (late first round etc) continually pushed further back by shit truck clubs :(

Wouldn't mind seeing the Zebras make an appearance in the big league. Or even the Lara under-15 B team.

Yes about time for some verifiable proof of this isn't it?
I think sometimes it's hard for people to face realities so they make up (or believe) in fanciful theories that 'explain' reality instead.

Bit like how those cookers believe there's a secret shadow government ruining their lives, when the reality is it's just the regular government doing it.

Geelong have cancelled Mad Monday cause of Bailey Smith.

And so begins the fall of cotton on

Damn, and a certain players finger injury looks like it's just healed up :)

Spreaders is going to have a major meltdown about it too.

Hope justice has prevailed in the end (seems like it from what I have read on the main board)

yeah it's an interesting case. I'm usually pretty sceptical of charges being dropped in cases like this, but if what's been said on the main board is true, then it puts me at ease a bit.

Still - you really shouldn't be finding yourself in situations where that can happen.

True, I think the police charges being dropped also justifies the accused name being suppressed publicly by the media.

Hopefully we never have any scandals like this from any club again.
