Things you're interested in/looking forward to re: the AFC reserves in 2014 and beyond. Something that steers away from the talk about deal structure and SANFL politics of the other thread.

I'll kick off with a few...

* One thing I'm curious about is how I'll be when the AFC play Norwood? I wonder if I'll enjoy victories/hate defeats as much? Then there's the issue of finals, and in particular grand finals. I'll always be "Norwood first", but would say, a GF loss to the AFC be easier to take? I'll be barracking for the AFC against any other club just quietly, so its going to be interesting...

* I hope the club puts a decent amount of effort into the marketing aspect of the side too. A unique guernsey design for example, plus plenty of options for merchandise etc would be good to see.

* Hopefully the AFC utilise this as a tool to help some Crows supporters (who cant for a variety of reasons) feel more attached to the club. Having 2 young children myself, I'd like to see the AFC promote the team towards families. "Come and watch the AFC for half the price" etc. Thats what the SANFL is great for - affordability - and hopefully the AFC jump all over this aspect of it.

Thoughts?

Personally, I like that I will be able to go to Elizabeth and watch the Dogs play the crows reserves. I am always going to favour the doggies but it will be interesting to watch the fringe crows players.

Having the fringe players playing in their preferred positions as opposed to wherever the SANFL coach wants to put them is not going to hurt us as a club IMO.

It will also be interesting to see if they play a similar game style in the reserves team, as I don't think that as a whole the SANFL plays as structured a game as the AFL.

For me personally my support for the Magpies is now done.

Went to the Port Norwood game a few weeks back and did not even care about the result. Since ONEPort this has pretty much been the case, but I have kept my Magpies Membership.

Now I will go to games involving the Crows. Have four SANFL games with my Essential Membership which will see me go to the bigger games or when I am bored on a Saturday arvo.

I wonder if Tex might play a few games in the reserves next year before he returns to the AFC lineup? Would be a huge draw card early in the season.

opens up another question. whether we'll be more likely to use the 2nds for out of form seniors/returning injured than we were previously. could we see a 'harsher' selection policy going forward.

on a personal note and although I hate flying, I can see me down there a couple of times next year for a solid weekend at the footy. fukc it, i'll take Friday and Monday off and drive.

Would Thommo be dropped if he did not have to go to the Magpies??

I'm just hoping we might get entry to a Crows SANFL game or two as part of our membership.

I've always casually followed Glenelg, but I could potentially see myself having more interest in the Crows reserves.

It will be interesting if the term "AFC Members to have access to AFC support team matches" is all matches, free as part of our membership. Instead of the no $400 000 fee and a guaranteed $40000 uplift per club we seemed to try for at first. If so it is equal to the club buying entry for less than 2000 people per match. With the SANFL club then hoping to draw a bigger crowd than if they had us all pay an extra $14 dollars a week, but then spending more while at the game. Could be a win for everyone at about $9 a member for the year it could explain some of the season ticket price increases but be good value for those that will attend reserves matches. It also makes that $400,000 entry fee not look so bad.

I'm not in Adelaide at the moment (country area), but get back for several games a year, and although I went to quite a few Glenelg games as a kid, and maybe 5 in the last 10 years. Never followed them like I do the Crows, who have been around for as long as I can remember, they are my team. As 1970crow said, it makes an Adelaide footy trip for Crows supporters more worthwhile and with Adelaide Oval on board I will personally be more likely to attend extra games this year, rather than consider just passing through Adelaide Airport on my way to a Melbourne game.

i'm hoping that it will increase the likelihood of dropping due to poor form. although, i seriously doubt that his issue at present. if it is just form, then he should retire at the end of the year because he's cooked.

Also got to remember that we are replacing the bye. Which means an extra game for the SANFL club to generate revenue.

I am sure Norwood are looking forward to playing the Crows at The Parade on a Friday night. Even if no "extra" Crows supporters show up it is still a good earner for them compared to the bye.

What is this rubbish clause about "playing to the line" and not resting players or sending them to surgery all about?

Do they honestly think a clause like that isn't going to be broken?

Isnt there an independant SANFL doctor who can step in on this if we try?

Doc: "Hey hey hang on, he's not hurt!"
Sando: "Oops, I accidently left the keys to the Crows Beach House in your letter box Doc."
Doc: "Get this man to hospital, stat!"

Still barrack for Norwood! Just be happy when a Crows player does well for the reserves.

Are you one of those rare breeds like myself that are magpie fans but go for the crows. My whole family is Port Power. oh the pain knowing I am the only smart one.

You wont know till you go to a game and either Norwood or Crows lose.

I went to the first Showdown thinking I may end up a Power supporter. We lost, it hurt and I stuck with the Crows.

i too am one of you

but its over now

If the magpies dissolve into Ports reserves side I will have no choice but to just support the AFC reserves side. That feels a little empty but Its the price I pay for the happiness Scott Hodges and Co gave me in the 90s. Happy days. Since I live out North I guess Centrals might become my alternative second club.

The real Port died with the ONEPort merger.

Dissolved into the SANFL Owned AFL Franchise Power.

What about rolling out the great Andrew McLeod as playing development coach. He already is a part time coach and would certainly get the crowds in. Would have no trouble running off half back in the SANFL is in much better shape than Stiffy. Did he play any footy this year?

Could probably get him in the "other top up players" from community football who havn't played in the SANFL for 18 months if we really wanted to haha. Would be good to have him take a bigger coaching role though.

He maybe carrying far less weight than Stiffy but his fitness wouldn't be close to being good enough. Not that Stiffys is, but that wasn't my point.

His knees wouldn't allow him to get back into match fitness to compete at his standard and I would be very surprised if he isn't experiencing a early touch of arthritis.
