Messenger, aren't the Wolves going to have to eventually wake up and realise their best two players play the same position?

Or in other words, do you ever see a Jefferson/Love front-court succeeding?

No, I most sincerely doubt it. The problem is that Al has made such a good fist of playing C. His defensive "issues" are a concern, but compared to who he playing with.......

They are not pair as a 4/5 all that often - Love has spent a lot of time subbing with second team being a super-smallball outfit (sharing the frontcourt with Brian Cardinal) - but their +/- is actually good from a fairly small sample.

Al Jefferson is probably a finished product (pre injury), so the question is what more can Love do. Despite his rebounding quality, they probably need to set him up more at the high post and he needs to be a more effective shooter from 15 feet+. I think he has sufficient upside to do that, given he is only 20.

Do the Wolves have a long term elite 4/5 pairing? No. Above average perhaps. The best structural argument I've heard about the Wolves is that what they really lack is a quality SF. Brewer is great defensively but can't shoot to save his life, Gomes is not a starter's patoot and Miller, eh.

The other, less likely, school of thought is he gets fitter and becomes a three. I doubt that he will ever be agile enough to go with the best SF's.

Jefferson's injury has changed plenty. Will he get back to what he was?

This may prompt some trade activity or at the very least some D-League recruiting (Pops!!!). If Amare is going to move and Phoenix want picks, youth and cap space, Minnesota can come to the party with two of three. Someone else will need to provide the destination and youthful talent.

Bassy Telfair scored 30 points today in a performance that will have the stewards calling for a swab to be done.

Wolves won the rebounds by 24 with Brian Cardinal leading all boards (10)

But if you are concerned that you have been transported to an alternate universe, fear not.

Jermaine O'Neal got injured.
