Could not have been a better weekend. So proud of how the team went about the game yesterday, almost as if that 'Line in the Sand' was drawn...lol
The pressure applied all over the ground was evident and the reason we basicallly controlled the game all day. Yes there were mistakes, but that's what happens in pressure games, they will get better at that. Let's not forget Collingwood is one of the best in the league at applying pressure until sides crack, and thankfully we withstood it and when challenged tightened the screws. Awesome effort.
One of our strengths yesterday was the forward line pressure, which shut down their run off half back and we never seem to let them have easy possessions so they could setup attacks.
What we need now is someone ala Earl Spalding/Aaron Hamill. Someone who crashes packs, forces a contest. Early in the game I thought Setanta was filling this role very well. Seemed to disappear a little as the game went on, however hasn't had the best preparation so can only get better at running the games out. With the backline looking more settled every week I'd much rather see Irish given some time to establish in the forward line. Either him or Hartlett.
If Hartlett can use his aggression sensibly he could prove very important for the team. Irish bleeds for the club and gives it his all, he too has that natural aggression.
Fev and Fish are awesome and are our standouts, Eddie is playing career best football and if we could get Harts or Irish to take this role we could have one of the premier forward lines in the competition.
Well done Blues, the light is getting brighter now and I'm loving it.....
Everyone out there who hasn't bought a membership, get on board and let's break another record by smashing Collingwood's membership record of 41k
