Not sure what you mean. I don't believe that the AFC have been touting a succession plan.

What I mean is we have two options:

Get an experienced coach - then we wont be worried about their ability to handle the job.
A Rookie coach - IMO best bet is Bassett as he has already coached a senior side with great success.

That was my point, there would be minimal worries about the ability of the new guy to do the job.

Succession plan was a separate thing that I said was a possibility, although it doestn seem like many people favour that idea.

Watching 360 , It appears Bomber will definetly not be at EFC next year!!!!!
i don't think he'll be anywhere. looks very tired/jaded

why is a succession plan all the rage these days, Hawthorn and the Cats have done ok without it......Collingwood not so good !!

This is just my gut feel, but I think it will be Ross Lyon! He has 1 year left on his dockers contract??? He could do the unthinkable again! The dockers probably aren't getting any better... Ageing list! Thoughts???

It really depends on the club trying to do it. Sydney did it with Longmire and it has worked so others thought they could try it, but for it to be successful you need to be sure that the outgoing coach will want to leave as per the agreement. This isn't a problem with Roos, but it was with Malthouse, hence why it failed to work.

Unless it involves Paul Roos - Sydney, Melbourne - has there been another one that works?

We have the team to do it all it needs is a few areas need more experience and we need a coach that can get improvement in players both new and old because there's still some older players that could still have career best seasons like van berlo and even Thompson can have a 2012 like season barring injuries
