I get wanting to keep the score down by sending Kershaw out to pitch again but the Dodgers need runs and every AB counts, so having him bat is a bit of a strange one.
Happy with that decision. If one of the first two had got on I reckon he might have pinch hit. But with 2 out, and we've got to stop them scoring as well.

That's so shit. Asbestos is rife in Australian buildings unfortunately and it's those around that age that are the most susceptible to it given it's common use in construction in the 70s. We do so many projects nowadays where extensions have been built out of it and often find it buried under ground in lieu of proper disposal. I'm worried that I've probably inhaled my fair share of asbestos dust from job sites.
Asbestos just claimed the life of one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.
In his 60’s but still too soon.

Sorry to hear about this.

This talk reminds me of the fact that there are people still living in Wittenoom (a former asbestos mine). Despite the fact the town has been degazzetted, with no government support.

I never went to begin with.

And I don't think I could go back and study now. Well I couldn't afford it to start with. I just want to work.
You can study while working and defer your payments. It's up to you - if you want a better job, it's probably for the best that you get some qualifications.

What Thomas said. Part time study is always an open to expand one's qualifications!

To pick a field that will make you happy or to expand on your work qualifications... hmm.

Is anybody here genuinely happy in their job here?

I pretty much hate where I work atm. Underpaid, severely overworked, we don't get the support we need (in my team), we are treated differently to others, my manager is a ******* cow too. On top of that, they tell us they can't afford to higher more people, yet some things we send out have a broker fee of more than what I would earn in a fortnight.

I like most of the people I work with, but the higher ups are clueless as to how bad things really are. We had a staff survey the other week (anonymous) and I went to town telling them what was wrong with the place.

Yeah, l love my job. I love cooking and i get to do what ever i want(my bosses/owners are pretty great), i run the kitchen so i work the days i want and hire and fire who ever i want.

I get paid to do my hobby.

Only crap thing is finding decent staff as no one wants to work in hospitality anymore.

I've always worried that doing my hobby for work would make me hate my hobby though.

E.g. Love doing Sports podcasts but if I did that as a job would I enjoy it as much?

Looking forward to another 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 dying before the NRA stop being campaigners

Not even a builder either. Plumber.
If I was a builder in that era I’d be damn concerned now.

More US citizens have died in gun-related violence than from terrorism. It really is ridiculous.

There was a stat somewhere that more US citizens have died from gun violence than all wars they’ve been in combined. Civil war included.

Wonder if that stat double counts though, since a lot of those deaths would have been gun related. :D

Was about to post this. It’s ****ing ridiculous. The logic is “Guns aren’t the problem, people are” and it’s idiotic. Yeah, try to massacre a crowd of 100 people with a pocket knife.

You mean the new form of terrorist violence? There haven’t been many cases of regular Joe down the street intentionally running over a crowd of people with his car. There also hasn’t been many cases of someone massacring a crowd of people with a gun by accident.

Thought putting /r/donald would've made it pretty clear that I was being sarcastic

I figured as much. Does “/r/“ mean anything? [emoji12]

It's the subreddit for Donald Trump fans, the most insane batshit crazy stuff get posted there

Read Welchy's posts and you'll have a sample, except it's even worse

No way you wouldn't!

That would be the dream job of many I reckon

Having to do more research, more regularity, more promotion, etc. yeah who knows. I agree think I'd still love it, but there is an element in most things of enjoying them less when they're linked to work.
