Half a trillion of AUD shareholder value wiped off the ASX. Debts won't be able to be serviced sufficiently if the crisis deepens. Aus banks rely on overseas funding. It doesn't look good but I'm a couch economist at best.

First I've thought about it that way but my ISA is taking an absolute pounding after being up 9% for the year 2 months ago.

This is likely to result in the nail in the coffin of retail having multiple high street stores. Flagship and online would take over I'd think. Hopefully Pret, Starbucks and Costa go under so I can get some decent coffee.

As Glenny says, Airlines are shit investments at the best of times but this could kill quite a few non middle east or govt backed airlines.

Cynically, I'm looking at apartments in Italy to buy as an investment. Likely to be significant value soon.

We have already had a 50bps rate cut here and boris is doing well to try and stimulate the economy with good cuts to business rates and Grants to small businesses but a lot will struggle. Mortgage CRH's are in place in Italy and are coming to the UK, already RBS is offering it to those affected.

UK banks will be fine but regional banks will struggle. I have pretty much the best travel insurance on the market through Barclays premier. Interestingly, after being happy to take my £18 per month without question for the last 3 years, they text and emailed me today asking me if I still needed it....insurance exposure to the virus could be significant...

If you are an optimist, get booking your overseas holidays now. Some absolute bargains if you are comfortable that everything will be resolved in 12 months.

quite low. it's the transmission that is worrying. the elderly, immuno compromised and those with other conditions.

personally im not concerned about the illness itself, but the potential to pass it on and such.

Had intentions to pop over next week when I had a day free, but would hate to carry the bug over there.my dad has a pacemaker and had bladder cancer, and my mum was injured in a car accident and has had mobility issues ever since...
