Given I'm in NSW, I doubt any of the places I know will be helpful for you.
Oh booooo

That sucks. My guy is fantastic, has been doing it for 22 years or something similar so he knows his routine well! Two rounds of qs, while he marks round 1 he has a Famous Faces half-time game, has bonus qs throughout for jug of beer/bottle of win/etc. which are 'Who Am I's or 'Guess the Song From the First Line' etc. champion bloke too.

He's a Blades supporter so I pointed out - after he'd announced us the winners - our signing of Maguire last week. :D
Yeah I was kind of annoyed. Then they had some round where some people from some teams could scull a beer and if you guessed right you got a point, just stupid, bogan culture.

Need to find a good place. The one in NZ was great at my friend's local. He would get straight into it, then go through the answers straight after each round. This place there were like 10 minute breaks between each freaking round. It was so annoying.

It was OK, we were 10 points off the eventual winners.

Didn't really like it though, the host was a ****** and there was too much pissfarting around between rounds. Took 2hrs and 45mins to get through 5 rounds of questions ffs. He also awarded bonus points for bullshit, like best team name and all that. Won't be going back there!

You know any good places?
Went to one at my local last week but it was pretty much the same as that, he gave a bonus point to whoever jumped up and shouted "Jesaulenko you little beauty!" (not even the right quote :drunk: ) when an image of that mark flashed up on the screen, rubbish.

My guy will sometimes be flexible with answers and give bonus points for funny answers BUT my sense is he only does that for teams doing crap, and won't let it influence final outcome.

Going for the four-peat this week..

I once went to one (not a weekly one, a fundraiser) where we won chocolate for funny answers. The ones we got prizes for weren't even our best. One of the questions was "What began in w year, stopped in x year, began again in y year and ended for good in z year?" My table answered (completely seriously too) John Farnham's singing career. It was Concord flights. Close enough.

Great Northern?

This probably won't seem funny but I am going to tell the story anyway.

One of the topics in NZ was "By George". So each answer in that round had something to do with a famous George. Anyway, this picture appeared on the screen (without the George's Marvelous Medicine, though)

And the question was, this book is called what? We had absolutely no idea so wrote "George's Magical Broth" we all pissed ourselves laughing and thought it was the best answer ever. When we handed in our sheet for that round, we made sure we alerted the guy of our answer. He found it funny too :D

IMO our best one was "What crashed in New Zealand in 2009 killing 9 people?"

We had no idea but a friend of mine blurted out "Wall Street". We all have a fairly dark sense of humour and that kept us laughing for ages.

HAHAHAHA THAT IS HILARIOUS.

There was some other question was name this film which showed people in the backseat of a cab, we wrote Taxi Driver and the name of some other film which escapes we. We were in tears.

In NZ, there were clues to a question at the end of each round that would give you an opportunity to gain bonus points. So if you guessed it after round 1, you got 10 points, then after round 2, there would be more clues, you'd get 9 points etc.

Anyway, after the first round some of the description included "the Romans paid the Germans with this in the 14th Century". Some team actually got it, anyway, as each round went on, we had as much as in idea as the previous round - none. Anyway, we got to the final round where the last bunch of clues are revealed (there was a picture of a white looking carrot type vegetable) and the host was like if anybody writes white carrot, don't even bother handing your sheet in :D

So what do you think we did? :D He had a grand old laugh!

(The answer was turnip)

I love those baffler ones. There was one once which was Air Conditioner, but for whatever reason our two guesses before another team got it were Saturn-5 and the Large Hadron Collider...

I don't know what they are, you science nerd!

You guys like some average films. Nothing wrong with Shooter, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Hunger Games, but they are just not great films.

Hunger Games as your favourite Sci Fi? What about Alien or Aliens. Star Wars? District 9 for something more recent that is top drawer.

Shooter? If you want a great action flick. Look no further than original Die Hard.

Their are too many great films to name really. Shawshank Redemption, im a Harry Potter nut so I loved those films. The casting was terrific. Die Hard, Indiana Jones, Cruyff14 how have you not seen any of the original Indy trilogy?!?!? Seriously you havent lived.

Toy Story, The Breakfast Club, Anchorman, Back to the Future trilogy, The Godfather 1&2, Goodfellas, Saving Private Ryan, LOTR trilogy. Ahh the list goes on and on and on. I could never pick an absolute favourite, it's all just what you're in the mood for I guess.

I love Die Hard. Sick movies 3 and 1 are the best. I am not denying the averageness of Shooter, but it kicks ass in the action stakes.

I have Indiana Jones on my HD, just never got round to watching them, know I will like them though. You seen The Fugitive? That movie is ****ing sick.

Gotta watch Goodfellas was talking to my friend about it yesterday. Saving Private Ryan is great.
