The official Cox replacement thread

As Cox looks to be a goner, and West Coast one game away form loosing a priority pick, it seems unlikely we will see Cox thrust into the grassy field from any period of time, before he is renched out before the eagles climax to a victory....


Anyway, Cox is in almost 1/3 of all teams and almost 100% of all teams that are high enough in the rankings...

at 548k he can be traded to pretty much anyone.

Well if he is out for the rest of the season I will be trading him for the big Mac. I have Petrie as my other ruckman so will have 2 North players in my ruck. Not sure whether that will be a good move but will probably do it anyway.

Probably Kreuzer or Tippett for mine. Kreuzer being heaps cheaper will probably see him over the line.

I don't have Cox, but pending trades, Kruezer and Jamar have got to be looked at! Freeing 200k at the cost of 10ppg for the rest of the season could be very beneficial if the cash goes to the right place.

Not a smart move I think Goldstein will get a run in the near future.

There isn't a huge correlation between Goldstein in and bad scores for the other rucks.

Petrie has 3 tons in the 6 games Goldy has played. Hmac has struggled a little, but that was against Saints and Freo and Sydney who would've smashed him in the hitouts.

Replacing Cox with Jolly to partner with Tippet

For those of you that like a bet... I'd have a look at the Swans ruck men. Pyke & White.

White has kicked 18 goals in the last two reserves games and is almost certain for a call up this week. He was unlucky to get dropped in the first place IMO but I digress. He's around $240k and has played 10 games this season at an average of 50. BE is 64. He just may have a couple of big games in him before the end of the season and will play most of his games in the fwd line as Swans are grooming him as a KPP CHF.

Pyke played just his 3rd game on the weekend and scored 78. He's currently listed at $117k after an opening price of $84k. His BE is -27. He's also averaging about 35 but I think (Honestly) he's a bit better than his average suggests.

Here's the kicker, if you have enough trades, and you think the Swans are going to launch full on into a rebuilding phase, you might want to put these guys both in. If the Swans are rebuilding, at least one of them will get a run every week and I think score you about 50+ points. A luxury trade yes but there maybe some value in either or both. They will certainly give you some cash if that's what you're looking for.

FTR, I have HMac & Kruezer. White is my emergency.

I'm curious, what is everyone gonna do if they don't confirm big Cox is out for the season but just list him as out for x amount of weeks?

I'd say HMac would be a good replacement if you don't already have him, otherwise Jolly.

Sandi is a lock in if he gets up. If not then I am still totally undecided.

Ther's Fraser, McIntosh, Jolly and Petrie all pretty much on par IMO.

A couple of insights, McIntosh has only outscored Petrie 6/15 times and only twice in the last 7 rounds.
Fraser is unpredictable (very up and down):
Scored > 127 5 times (which is more than any of the above)
Between 87-127 only once scoring in this 40pt window
Scored < 87 8 times

So that being said I will probably lean towards Jolly or Petrie but then I would have to consider Tippet Clarke and Kruezer as wildcards ok for second ruck spot, but we are talking about first ruck spot here. (Kruezer is already my second ruck)

If no stats, what is everyones opinion?

I want to look at the run home for all these rucks especially finals.

I think number of trades might be the issue (for most ppl), its the better the devil you know scenario. White would be great if you have trades to burn but you need to get at least 200 pts every week from the rucks and a cox to Jolly and a like will give a better chance assuming you have a decent second ruck like hmac in my case. White as an emergency would be great but a lot of us again have spencer/meesen/jacobs , and trading one of those would be a waste of trade.
