NOK from the highlights of the draftees that I've seen seems like a no fuss natural footballer. He won't break away from a pack ala Dangerfield or kick the ball like Sam Mitchell on both sides. He just seems to play in the middle gets the ball 25 odd times, use the ball very well and delivers it to the players that need to ball in their hands.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that NOK reminds me a bit of Lachie Neale in the way he moves and just has that natural footy brain.

Great to see the emphasis on recruiting natural footballers IMO.

It's all about depth and if these lads are an upgrade on present fringe players then I am cool with that.

Fringe players get treated unfairly IMO.
Annoys me that Peeps can be too quick to label these guys 'spuds' when in reality they are there to do a role for the club. Obviously a club cant afford to have 12 gun players in their reserves team.
It takes some good list management to have a handful of blokes on your list who probably arent going to make it, are signed to a basic cheap contract and if are needed to be called up to the team dont totally suck.
Its a tuff gig for a list manager to get the right balance. I think some of our recent delistings and drafting are starting to give us genuine depth and not just a list clogged up with a few too many VFL standard players

I think what you're looking for in the rookie draft is one thing about their game that is elite, so you can roll the dice and work on the other stuff. But they are outside chances of making it unless there is some other reason (Weller - reputation, Sinclair - left the game for 12 months at 17-18 years old).

FWIW, Templeton, Geary, Delaney, Curren, Shenton, Sinclair, Minchington & Weller are all on the senior list now having spent time on a rookie list.

The latest news item on the Saints website says that Markworth injured a shoulder and may need another reconstruction. Luckless for him. But geez we dodged one by not putting him on the rookie list.
