There is only a one game difference between 5th and 11th on the ladder, so once again the SFA season will likely come down to the final round to determine who will make finals and who will sit on the sidelines during post-season.

Gumbies are in the best position possible to end the season. Top of the ladder and facing off against 2 of the worst performing teams this season on field in their final 2 games. They already have finals in the bag, but the all important double chance could still slip away if they fail to win any of their last 2 games. A poor percentage will make it difficult to keep top spot if they drop a game, so Gumbies will need to win both to stay there. Otherwise 1 win will be enough to make sure they finish inside the top 4 to end the season.

A 92-point loss on the weekend to bottom of the ladder Old Boys put a huge dent in the Warriors prospects of finishing top of the ladder at the end of this season. Finals is still 99% assured unless if they somehow lose by 100 points each to both the Royals and Swamprats, but they couldn't possibly do that?

A close win against East Side has elevated Wonders into the top 4 right at the pointy end of the season. A poor percentage will make it tough to keep their position in the top 4, so they will need to win both of their last 2 games to stay there. Finals is still not set in stone, so winning this week at home will be the number 1 priority on all the Wonders minds.

Bears are hanging onto a top 4 spot by the skin of their teeth. The draw against Demons being the only thing keeping them there. They will need to win both games to 100% confirm top 4, and at least one win to confirm a place in the finals this season. Beating Dragons this week will almost assure them a place in the top 4 if Bombers and Roys both lose.

A narrow loss to the Dragons has pulled Bombers back into the pack. They now sit 2pts behind the top 4 Bears and 2pts ahead of 9th placed Demons. 2 final games against bottom 4 teams and a large percentage makes it likely that they'll play finals, but they won't want to stumble and just miss out.

A shattering 1-point loss to the Royals has put a spanner in Roys top 4 hopes. One more win is still needed to make finals with their good percentage, but lose both games and they might just find themselves in 9th position at the end of the season. Swamprats this week is a massive 8-point game for both teams sitting on 24Pts a-piece. Win and finals are certain for the Roys. Lose and they'll have to find a way to beat Furies on the road in the final game of the season.

A narrow victory over the Bombers pushes the Dragons inside the 8 and gives them a real shot of playing finals this season. Two tough games to finish the season with Bears vying for a top 4 spot, and Demons still trying to force their way into the 8. With a poor percentage, Dragons might need to win both to make finals.

A loss to the Gumbies keeps Swamprats in the bottom part of the 8 with their head barely above water. It will be tough to keep their spot with 3 teams below them only a game (or less) behind. Roys this week is a massive 8 point game for both teams who are on 24 Pts each. Win and finals will almost be within reach. Lose and Swamprats will see themselves outside the 8 and having to defeat 2nd place Warriors in the final game to make it. A difficult proposition for any team.

A disappointing 5 point loss to the Furies has put a huge dent in the Demons top 8 chances. Now sitting 2 points behind 8th, Demons will need everything to go their way to make finals. Travelling to 3rd placed Wonders this week will be a tough task, then they have to face off against 7th placed Dragons in what is shaping up to be a do-or-die game to end the season.

A narrow loss to the Wonders has made it that much harder for East Side to play finals this season. A tough run home against 4th and 5th placed Bears and Bombers will make it almost impossible to pull off, but the chance is there. Win both and Phoenix could sneak in, as long as Demons and Swamprats don't also win both their games.

A brilliant 5-point victory over the Demons puts Furies back in contention for a place in the 8. A lot still need to go right, but if they can knock off Gumbies this week then they will give themselves a real chance to make it. A low percentage means they will need to win both and hope Phoenix and Demons don't also win both of their games.

A thrilling one point victory over the Roys technically keeps Royals in the hunt for the top 8, but everything will need to go right for them. Swamprats and Demons would need to lose both their games, and Phoenix and Furies will need to lose at least one game each. And that's if Royals can beat the top 2 teams (Gumbies and Warriors) in their final 2 games. A chance that is so slim it might as well be anorexic.

Well if this isn't the perfect example of poor management I don't know what is. A team with great potential this season that performed well enough on the qooty field to be in contention for finals, but has been failed by inept leadership that has led them to receive a whopping 10 penalty points. I think everyone will be keeping an eye on the Old Boys off-season moves. It will be a very interesting watch.
