The James Boag's ads, featuring Ox and Dermy, are farkin shtoopit (even though Dermy pretending to be a hairdresser is kinda funny). Which ponytail-wearing, BMW-driving flog came up with it? Or was it an intern? :p

The ads state that James Boag's supports footy at the grass roots level. The ad also suggests that, without such grass roots support, Ox and Dermy may not have become footy stars, and would've pursued other vocations instead; Ox being a surgeon, and Dermy a hairdresser.

The two ads contradict each other: one intimates that, without support as a junior footballer, Dermy might've 'only' become a 'lowly' hairdresser; and the ad featuring Ox suggests that, without footy, he might've a become surgeon, which is arguably a much better profession, and he would've been better off had he not been distracted with football. :D They're dissin' hairdressing, and saying that Ox is worse off for having support as a young footballer.

Phew!! I'm glad I got that off me chest :p

Really ?

I think its more of a send up that Derm was so fixated with his hair styles with his perms and mullets and Ox spent spent so much time under the knife with his knee recos , when they played that Hairdressing and surgery could have been a career option had they not chosen footy.

Are all of the talk back callers included in every podcast ?

Just the interviews and guests are being podcast.

Nah, they're not the complete shows. Sixteen minutes an hour of content on Harford's show? And 13.5 minutes per hour on KB's show? Come on! Surely you were suss on that. :)

Morning Glory's content is usually 33 to 34 mins per hour, which is pretty much standard for a commercial station. The shows with only one news break per hour have a little more, but not much (they cut the news, but have an extra ad break or 2).
I know because I have no life and I've recorded the show many times. :p

In fact, Ross and John (3aw) do a bit less.

Ha. Yep, I get the reference, and I suppose it's a bit of fun fluff, but I still reckon they're dumb ads, especially the Ox one.

It's saying (and this repeating both of us :p) that, without some sort encouragement when he was young, he might've never become a footy star, and could've been an orthopedic surgeon instead. So, had James Boag's not been there to help him focus on sport when he was young, he would've focused much more on his studies, to the point where he became a surgeon, making great coin. A surgeon: a job he could do until he was probably 70+, making tonnes of cash, unlike like what he's doing now, which, although probably pays well, is a job in a very fickle industry, which could end in a heartbeat after a couple of shit ratings results.

Without the footy career, he wouldn't have bunged his knees and, therefore, wouldn't have had the time to sit around doing nothing while he was injured, developing his gambling problem. Without his gambling issue, he wouldn't have blown all that money and been humiliated.

Even if he did stuff his knees doing something else, he would've been way too busy working or studying to develop a gambling problem.

If he was a surgeon, he probably would've moved out of Sunbury many years ago, into a fancier suburb, and met hotter, richer chicks. He would've married some cashed-up, hoity-toity Toorak babe, and made even more money out of that.

Hanging out with his new rich family, he would've started playing golf at a munch younger age and, with his natural sporting ability, would've earned his tour card by now, hence, full-filling his true dream of becoming a golf pro. His new, rich golf buddies would've steered toward fruitful financial investments, making him even more wealthy.

I could go on, but I'm not gunna go into a whole thing about it :D

So, without the distraction of football and the destruction of his knees, his life would be ten times better. In other words, the James Boag's company has ruined his life. What good are they? :p
Hence: dumb ad. :D

Not sure about other shows, but I listened to TRH tonight and then had a look at what they'd podcasted.
They only used half of Rohan Connolly, one segment of an hour with Derm and there was no Soapbox, which is normally around the 15-20 minute mark I'd have thought.
Would you put every caller on a podcast? I probably wouldn't. A lot of them are dross.

MG needs more Mark Bosnich.
he comes across as a great bloke. i always like and enjoy when listening to guests from outside of melbourne showing a clear knowledge of who they are talking too. bozza obviously knows maher form foxsports, but also knows watson as well i feel.

it shows that the guest has taken time to research or get to know the mg team.

I have a bit more of a passing interest in the round ball game, and listening to Bozza really makes me want to take more of an interest. Doesn't take himself too seriously at all, but more importantly really knows what he is talking about. Would be fantastic if SEN/MG could get him into "The Drivers Seat" once the AFL has finished for the year.
