Re: The SEN Thread 9

Mr Bombastic is now advocating The Bombres lose points.
Honestly this issue has been beaten to an inch of its life, with Mr Bombastic leading the charge.

Re: The SEN Thread 9

Haven't they closed ranks around Barry Hall today

slurp, slurp, slurp.

i know. its sickening. i mean, when he announced he would fight and everything was arranged they were like "ZOMG BIG BAG BARRY IS GONNA BE WORLD CHAMPIONZZZZ!!!1111!!!!!".

now kb is bagging the would be opponent - "if he was any good he'd make it his own way".

and then there's the sad case of liam jarrah. if he is found guilty of the charges (weapon etc) then they'll say "such a great loss of talent, what can the afl do to make sure this doesnt happen again.....poor me.

FFS, just because they kick a leather ball around doesnt make them less accountable.

Re: The SEN Thread 9

Why is Matt Thompson on air, when he resigned? Is the station taking the piss?

Don't mind Wallace on the radio, should do 2 shifts a week on Harf time and get rid of the yank and unfunny guys.
Two serves of Terry a week at the expense of Ed? Can't speak for everyone else but, surely, you're on your own here. Terry talking hypothetical's over Ed? No thanks. I don't even agree with some of Ed opinions on American Football as well.

Dawson was a joke this afternoon. Laughable.
I was listening much yesterday afternoon but, having skimmed through the thread yesterday, went to have a listen. Seriously, he and whoever allowed him to speak on air should get a boot up the arse. I can let a bit of amateur hour pass by without criticism. He and the station are not being fair dinkum. It just emphasised how unnecessary he is.

KB on Barry Hall "a strong looking head" That's funny.

This THIS THIS THIS THIS!!! Shits me to tears the way people try to make excuses or gloss over things just because its a footballer doing it..

having said that shaneo, let's presume jarrah to be innocent until proven otherwise.

Absolutely, my comment wasn't in direct relation to jurrah, (I haven't read the whole story and don't have an opinion on it because of this) was more a general comment at the way footballers get treated when they f**k up

Re: The SEN Thread 9

Hungry for a Time Rule

Is there any chance Hawthorn can move on from last year? The preliminary final loss to Collingwood was almost six months ago and they’re still banging on about it! Midfielder, Jordan Lewis says he is deeply scared and selfish players might have been the reason they didn’t make the Granny. And tough nut, Brad Sewell says he’ll carry the hurt for the rest of his life. The way they are carrying on you’d think they’re the only club to ever lose a preliminary final. They are grieving as if they lost the Grand Final. Take a reality check and just move on, Hawthorn. Surely your focus is solely on this season.
I’m KB, That’s My Take.

Yeah, take that you bad, bad whiny Hawks! … KB uses the Hawkers remembrance of what ended last season to fire Hawk Talk Nation for 2012 as a beef against them to set up the hour’s topic of the biggest whingers in AFL football … If there is one journalist whose whinging can drive a man to drink it’s the man of venom, Grunk Denham. So grab a bar seat and a bottle of Wild Turkey a for a whinging whirlwind from the wise SEN morning fraternity of two.

Denham agrees with KB, as what the Hawks are doing goes over both their heads … straight to talkback for hate on the Hawks … “Move on, you gotta move on. Move on” … This is Morning Glory subject matter for Marta Hari and Watson. … Even some alleged Hawks’ fans say move on – O.K., so I will too.

KB moves the subject to the AFL injury report and he disses the critics for alleging the interchange shift to 3&1 was going to destroy the game, increase injuries, and distorting players’ careers as the game became a shambles. KB takes a mallet to everyone and Grunk agrees with all his points … The new KB/Grunk award for the best all-ages first year player is named the Vic Cumberland Award … KB’s back to rule changes and levels his sights on Nathan Buckley, as he asks whether coaches will put a moratorium on the way they play … KB continues to warm to Karmichael Hunt and asks his listeners if Hunt and Folau are now worth the money … here we go again as naïve caller lists soccer – “which is widely agreed as the best sport in the world”- as a sport that hasn’t changed its rules very much. KB reminds caller that he’s covered this subject before (previously KB listed 16 examples of rule changes in soccer), and nominates the NFL (which is the most successful sports competition in the world) for having 26 rule changes (it was 22) in one year. KB heads into half time with a rant:

KB: As the game changes, [Grunk] if it heads in a certain direction that is not good for the game - it may be good for a certain coach or certain sides – but if it’s not good for the game then surely that’s the idea of checks and balances because we want this game to remain pretty much the same. It’s an indigenous game; it’s a unique game, virtually played nowhere else in the world except in this country. It’s unique! So if it heads in the wrong direction surely some group or somebody, or collectively, have got to rain it in a little bit.

Grunk should regroup at the overnight break with some new checkpoints at his disposal:
1. Nothing usually good happens between 10pm and 5am – check
2. Person on AFL list was allegedly drinking grog – check
3. Persons allegedly involved with machete were not in a jungle – check
4. Political correctness and dumb whitey doesn’t understand other cultural behaviour from bygone centuries – Drat!

Grunk, like the rest of us, will be stumped by point four but with the early as you can get retirement of Barry Hall there should be an upswing in the discussion starting in the premiership quarter. So as Dees’ fans hit another bump in the road to success it’s time to load up the rum for quadruple shots in the brand new drink called the Jamaican Rum Jurrah.

Barry Hall is a winner, and he didn’t even throw a punch. He’s turned his back on a post-football boxing career. His heart was not committed to a brutal sport. Took plenty of mental strength to throw in the towel when burdened with expectation and a $500,000pay cheque just to step into the ring. It’s always appeared to me that there’s been people just prodding Hall to become a fighter on the back of some amateur fights as a teenager. On the back of that an aura has just surrounded Hall and some reputation he could be world class. His hit on Brett Staker fuelled he had a fighter’s mentality. Last night’s decision to quit the sport showed he has courage, something we never doubted.
I’m KB, That’s My Take.

Is Jurrah the X-Factor Melbourne won’t have in 2012? … KB is not impressed with the Wrotniack audio and defence of Barry Hall ensures … WTF – we’ve been going 4:16 and KB’s off to a commercial break:mad: … Liam Jurrah is in big strife and it could be over for his AFL career says the Grunkster … Some caller with knowledge of Jurrah’s home life in Yuendumu reminds us we have no realisation of where he’s come from because it’s like a third world country; payback is apart of their culture … Yep, you bet many of us don’t know what it was like in the seventeenth century … WTF2 – this time we’ve got 6:08 in and back to commercials we go … ah, we’re back and we’re waiting for the Melbourne presser. Hall gets a belting through the SMS as KB fills in time … after 3:06 we hear from Cameron Schwab …

Presser highlights: none
Presser lowlights: Mutt Thompson’s voice.
Most used keywords: complex, maturity, elder, support, empathy.
Least or non-used key words: beer, machete, violence, victim.

WTF3 – 10:25 of standard and predictable press conference and then commercials … Caller rats out Kermit Bretheraton for criticism of KB and the Tigers … next caller suggests there’s a victim that should not be forgotten and KB’s has used the word complex as many times in three minutes as he’s used the word Judd in three months …WTF4 – 4:26 and back to commercials via some quick Q&A:

KB: You’re not a fan of Melbourne are you?
Grunk: Ah, er, ub, there’s nothing wrong with Melbourne. I feel very sorry for the Melbourne footy club from the events of the last twenty-four hours.

After some Jurrah-supporting SMS’s KB drops the following gem: “There is a serious weapon involved here too, ah, there’s been possession of a serious weapon, I think a machete has been mentioned in dispatches, ah, as well.” … another SMS asks why was he (the elder) left unattended and without a minder … finally our cricket victory gets a mention … concerns for Carlton injuries … KB’s voice turns a little terse as he mentions Nathan Buckley wanting that moratorium on rules … both KB and Grunk love that NAB Cup ruck rule … and the final 6:36 is complete and that’s it for another uneventful double-up of KB and Denham.

A whopping time of 34:57 on Friday’s lame hour where the only venom will be in my first attempt at a quadruple shot of a Jamaican Jurrah. If KB loves rules so much maybe he should implement one on the show’s content time.

Surveying (another lame) Weekly Denhamography
a) Doesn’t know if Levi Casboult will get a game this year.
b) Play-on after a point is the major success in the last few years.
c) Soccer need to look at that stretcher rule “which is a joke.”
d) Retirement is one of Barry Hall’s smartest decisions.
e) Camera glasses on cricket umpires drove him mad this summer.
f) He’s had enough of the cricket.
g) Thinks the ruck rule should have been reviewed and introduced this year proper.

The shock jock footy opinion is stale, and you're sounding like self satisfied obnoxious w***er!

Went to a mates birthday last night, went to cut the cake and he struggled through the bottom layer?
Pissed Bloke from the back of the crowd yells out "pretend you're Jurrah with a machete".

Re: The SEN Thread 9

It will be better than F1 talk this week

i note your footy teams are SM and PM. both are within spitting distance of the grand prix track. does your hatred of motor activities stem from the F1 takeover every march in that district?

It didn't help and at the time i was a president of a local club. We were all treated like shit, all our equipment trashed etc, personal threats were common against those who spoke out about it.
Personally i'm not against F1,its just that it costs too much money and should have been put on a permanent track . Laverton airbase could have been used, as it is a big open space with nothing on it and has a freeway next to it.
I also don't like Webber as he sounds like a right tosser.

Re: The SEN Thread 9

A big one, thats why i hate hearing about it. Ron Walker does it for Victoria, bullshit he does it for himself as his son's company does all the work around the track.

so your grudge about anything soccer......

you dont like soccer (in fact hate it, bloody immigrants!), but liked the south melbourne soccer club. it was one of the local clubs in your area. you had a love hate relationship with them.

when the a league started, south didnt get a gig. thusly you hate a league

Re: The SEN Thread 9

Having read the exchange between Bedford and peternorth. I can understand the problem bedford has with the gp's presence here. Had I known earlier, I wouldn't have been so wound up about it. I'm not sure of the point about the race costing too much. "Cost" is relative, but if Ron Walker's son is getting the contract to do all the work then, maybe, costs are inflated to more than what they could be deliberately. That being the case, under a different guise, the cost of the gp could be lowered to a widely accepted level. However, broadcasters/people would still complain about the gp. Melbourne isn't the only city to have had a gp on public roads and it's common for the citizens of those cities to complain, the exception being Monaco. Not much is made of Ron Walker's son being involved though, even on the ABC, the social watchdog.

Using an empty airfield in Laverton for a permanent track is a good idea. A lot of tracks have been born out of disused airfields, including Silverstone (where the British GP is held). However, even if a track was built there, the chances of it hosting a track are zero. One of the reasons Albert Park was though of as a site is because a non-F1WC gp was held there in the 50s, so there is some continuation of history there as well. Had those races not occurred. maybe Albert Park wold not have been thought of in the first place. To use an empty airfield, the idea would've been best thought of in the 60s/70s and, if people complain about the cost now, to be build a permanent track to host an F1 race, you're not getting much change out of $450 million.

Speaking of stale and tedious...

What about 'media person x was mean towards my team:( *bitch and moan about them incessantly.*'

Is it really necessary?

Edit: Also, I think Lavterton is being sold off to land developers. Just like Hoxton Park, Wallan (plus many others), and Essendon if the numpties get their way.
