I don't know if this will make any more sense but I've tried to pull out the most important parts for what's going on now. Any conflicts between this thread and the big one and the big one wins.
Bidding
A bid becomes successful when it leads for at least (a couple of other rules can extend this time) 72 hours
Bidding for opposition players
You must post the player's full name and the salary you'll pay them and the number of years you will keep them for on that contract and the round of the Pre Season Draft in which you will pick up the player.
You must equal the leading bid for that player in all three components, and beat it in one.
This bidding closes at Midnight Melbourne time on Saturday/Sunday November 24/25.
Bidding for your own players
You must post the player's full name and the salary you'll pay them and the number of years you will keep them for on that contract.
You must equal the leading bid for that player in both components.
This bidding closes at 8pm Melbourne time on Friday November 30.
Veteran listed players
The only contracted that can be offered to these players is a veteran's contract, which costs nothing but takes up one of your two spots on the veterans list. This offer beats any opponent's bid.
Eligible veterans
These players may be offered either a normal contract, or a veteran's contract (which costs nothing but takes up one of your two spots on the veterans list). A veteran's contract beats any opponent's bid
Rookie listed players
You can offer these players another year on a rookie contract ($32,000), or promote them to the senior list and offer a normal contract. No contract = no promotion. Any opponents bid is for a senior position, which beats any rookie contract offer.
Trading
Whenever you trade a player the receiving club must offer the player a new contract (salary and length). The player must be paid all of this contract, it is up to the two parties to agree on who pays what.
Trading contracted players
You can either trade them on exactly the same contract they were on
or
Trade them on an extended (length) contract. If you extend the contract the player must be paid (at least) the amount specified in post 2.
Trading uncontracted players
You must match or beat the salary and length of the leading offer at the time of posting the trade.
and
You must pay the player at least the amount specified in post 3.
Delisting
No delistings are official until the close of bidding. Any players without a contract at this point will be automatically delisted.
Delisting uncontracted players
That's what you're supposed to do. Do as much of it as you like
Delisting contracted players
That's what you're not supposed to do but may have to if your list has
been inadequately managed. You will pay 100% of the salary if the player is still on an AFL list, you will pay 75% if he is not unless you claim and I agree that he was forced to retire due to injury (pay 50% subject to my approval) or he walked away from the game (pay nothing)
What you need at the end
