Bastinac. Wells. Adams. Atley. When we are on these players look a million bucks. All are terrible when the chips are down. Would put Wright in there but hes not best 22.
Players who sook?
Thomas not to a fault of his own. Goldstein. Boomer. I didnt want to put Swallow in there as he tries his guts out and FFS he laid 7 tackles on 1 leg on Friday. But he must be fed up with the lack of success he is getting from his teammates. He is not a talker and he doesnt sook but more so lets out his frustrations.
The only senior players who pump up their teammates are Drew and Dal Santo. Thompson doesnt speak up enough either. If Ziebell had the tank he would have been captain by now. Cunners is also timid in the Anthony Stevens mould so would make an excellent deputy IMO.
McDonald will captain this side after Swallow. The players will vote for it no doubt. That I can guarantee.

Is this all personal observation or more inner scrotal type information?

Related Game day trainer info who PTs at my gym. Can't say much of it surprises

Not much, no.

Atley is the sort of surprising one. He always seems like he wants to take the game on regardless of what the others are doing.

If Jack doesn't have enough of a tank by now, he never will. Still shouldn't stop him from being captain.

It's a sign of his maturity re Atley.
Luke will be admired by his peers, not only the ones there now but the ones that will come. There's certain individuals that have it and he is one.

Not sure where to drop this little summary from SA Hawk on the main board.

Teams in the 8 currently and the amount of games left against other current top 8 teams are :
Hawthorn : 7
Sydney, Geelong, Gold Coast & Port : 5
Collingwood : 4
Fremantle : 3
North Melbourne : 2

Really, whatever has happened so far, finals and even top 4 is just sitting there waiting if this team can get their heads right.

That may be the case but will this team get its head right?

We went on a run late last year but didn't make it. We went on a run late the year before, made it, but were cooked. When is this team going to stop going on runs later in the year and play consistent football week in week out? When are we going to start playing in a controlled manner that not only keeps us in the game but always gives us a chance of winning? The way we play is just too inconsistent, too haphazard to signify us as a team for the big guns to worry about. Much like last year. And the year before.

I hope the team haven't seen a similar summary anywhere!

Nothing turns this mob flacid quicker than the imminent prospect of finals or an improved finals spot.

Tell them all hope is gone and we're headed for a top 3 pick. Suddenly they'll fight tooth and claw to nail some dead rubbers.

Imagine the hurt and disgust that will be universally felt if they dish up rubbish like they have so far in a final. It would be crushing to see a top 6 finish and then not not turn up.

It would be completely demoralising and a coach killer imo. We are a looong way off finals just yet, but I have seen very little this year that gives me faith that we would be able to step it up.

No doubt B Tron. About 10 minutes into Friday nights game i knew it was a lost cause. Geelongs midfield ran rabid whilst the boys seemingly stood on the sidelines and watched. Pretty much ruined my night after looking forward to the game all week.

I thought it would be a close fought game, but we might be able to get over them with good contested football, pressure and the fact they were backing up from Perth. Sigh.

Im not sure the players feel upset after a showing like that, but i sure as **** do!

Of major concern is that, like against Essendon and Gold Coast, we got absolutely opened up through the mid-field again. In all 3 games, there has been almost zero pressure on the opposition ball carrier kicking into the forward line. This leaves our poor defenders with almost no chance of stopping pin-point passes. I am not sure why this is happening, but we are very easy to beat when it does.

It is but does the team have the stones to take it?

People look too far ahead.

Trip to WCE - possible loss.

Have to then return home from the west - also possible loss ( in the last 6 games the week after the trip back from Perth, NM have lost 5 of those games - and the only win was against GWS).

So one game at a time please...

Possible loss? Where do you get the optimism to go beyond "likely loss"?

I figured out the reason for our slow starts, it appears we have been using a new pre game warm up tactic where all the lights are turned off and everyone can relax, or take a quick nap, would be better getting the acka dacka pumping out at about 200db to get pumped up maybe
If this is true then someone at the club has no idea! Need to be up and about before the game due to both psychological and physiological reasons.

It was mentioned that this was the exact pregame routine we had last year when we were the league's best 1st quarter side.

Conclusion - the lights out bizzo isn't the reason we're starting like shit trucks.
