I’ll kick things off.

Super Mario 64 speedrunner “Cheese” recently beat his own world record time for the 100% run of 1h 39m 15s.

Here’s a cool video by Goldeneye runner Karl Jobst about a 20 year old doom speedrun recently broken.

And a newish video getting a lot of airplay from YouTube channel EZScape about a cheater busted in Yu-Gi-Oh.

I love Summoning Salt's YouTube videos about the history of particular records.

Good call. I watched the Pokémon Red/Blue one yesterday.

i used to watch a lot of this when i didn't work and somehow had all the time in the world. watching Cosmo chip away at Ocarina of Time was fascinating. the strategies these kids would employ (working together, sharing knowledge to get there) was pretty high level stuff for what was essentially kids trying to beat games real fast. Cosmo would go into Paint during a stream to draw what he was talking about, which precise angle he needed to hit to glitch through a wall. AGDQ was really entertaining for a few years there, i think it's quite different now, the scene in general too.

this British guy is a great GTA runner v entertaining

Mario Kart 64 fastest lap record on Koopa Troopa Beach set today by Beck Abney

I'm friends with two brothers who were (maybe still are) AUS record holders in Super Mario Kart. One of them was ranked 8th in the world at one point. Pure rng/luck. They wasted a lot of time on that.

I don’t like running rng-based games myself but you can’t call it a waste of time if they enjoy it, and you can’t deny there’s a heavy skill element to it.

Well, it was them who said it :tearsofjoy:

Ive never been a part of the community but thanks to RWhitegoose I recognise names of runners.

Yeah it’s great what Goose does to chronicle the “lore” of the game.

In other news, Cheese just beat his Super Mario 64 120 star run and went sub 1hr 39m.
