The Stick Figure Saint

The thread on "Your Favourite St Kilda Guernsey" discussed the old stick figure saint emblem.

I loved that emblem.

There was one stick figure that was just standing there with a slightly bent wrist - I thought it looked a bit faggy - but was still way cooler than any other VFL / AFL emblem.

Inspired by Barker's higher marking prowess, I tried drawing some alternative stick figure dudes: taking speccies, kicking the ball, handpassing etc. (back in the pencil and paper days)

Does anyone want to try creating a cool stick figure image either using paint or photoshop or whatever graphics software you have ??

I recall in the seventies being told we were not allowed to use the stick figure as our emblem anymore. I believe it had something to do with a copyright imposed on the icon by the TV show "The Saint".

Does anyone know if this is true and if so what our legal recourse might be in order to use the icon again ??

My views on the stickfigure saint are on the public record.
It is one of my fondest memories of footy in the Eighties so it must have lasted beyond the seventies (or I was just a bit slow). If Simon Templar is responsible for having the stick figure saint traken from us then I think we should sue Roger Moore for being a pretty crap replacement Bond.

I wanted to post a message that confirmed it is a registered trademark (belongs to the Estate of author Leslie Charteris) but if the team was interested in using the logo I'm sure we could come to some agreement. Several sports teams around the world use the logo with our permission so there is a precedent...and a new TV series goes in to production in April so the time is right...
