The Swans do host a good show here in Sydney ...
They put on a regular service of trains and buses to get to and from the ground. Or there is the regular ferry service if you prefer something a bit special. All that is free on presentation of the gameday ticket. (Quite an effort for a crowd of ~38000)
And they really put a lot of effort into gameday entertainment. Now, a lot of it (most of it) are innovative ways to give their sponsors more exposure. They had some clacker thing (promoting a bank) that if you waved and the camera caught you then you'd win a prize. Ditto for wearing some paper Nana Mouskouri glasses that were promoting their optometrist sponsor. They had some world record attempt at wearing red noses to support SIDS research. And a collection of people singing the team song in the back seat of a car from their car sponsor.
Now, none of this was my taste, and personally I would have happily foregone all of this to simply have had the game at SCG. But there lots of families, girls, boys, women, men, all having a good time and getting into it and enjoying the show on offer and supporting their team. Swans games can often be a bit quiet - but it really revved up in the last quarter when the game was in the balance. It was a good atmosphere - of course I say that with us having got out of jail. I'm sure the bus ride home surrounded by ~60 swans supporters would have been mighty uncomfortable otherwise.
As always, good turnout by 'Pies fans. We even got the Colllllliiiinnngggwwooooooooooood chant up at one stage.
