He would be, but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he could be traded if he requested to return home. It just means that the ball would firmly be in Sydney's court.

Reid (22 years), Franklin (27 years), Tippett (26 years) are their tall forwards who are still "young" enough to play for 5-6 years.

Mike Pike is turning 30, but I wouldn't label him a KPF.

Although the Swans may see him as a replacement for ROK.

Ideally he'd be played as a HFF - the question has always been whether or not he had a big enough tank to push up the ground and have stints in the midfield.

That remains to be seen, I don't know how he's performed in the seconds up there - but I wouldn't pay too much attention to that anyway given how poor the competition is.

Buddy's gonna play for 9 more years.

If the sun journos really read BF as much as everyone says they do, they will be devastated reading the last few pages of this thread.

And they ignore little bits of information such as Judd's VISY contract being put into the salary cap last year with next to no warning, Judd taking a 500K reduction in salary for next year, Hampson (would was on what, 300kish ???) and Betts (about the same ???) leaving and god knows what is happening with Scotland (or what contracts may have been forward or back ended)

Footy "journalists" these days are as reliable and accurate as posted on BF ...........

Not to mention Walker, Carrazzo and Scotland* all go onto the veterans list now ($336k), plus 7 delistings and Laidler to go as well, on top of the annual increase in TPP. I know it doesn't account for back/front ended contracts but unless we heavily front ended Daisy's contract we'd have plenty of room.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me that we've done that with Daisy. We would fill our cap this coming season, and if things don't work out as planned injury wise next year for Dale, the damage in the remaining 3 years will be greatly lessened. Kind of makes sense in a way. Pay more now while there aren't any other big free agents available this year, and then have the space for 2014 or 2015 free agent class, or worst case new contract extensions for existing players.

Yeah, it'd be the smart way to go about it considering Gibbs will be a free agent next year and plenty of others coming out of contract that will be expecting a pay rise, but just because it's the smart way to go about it doesn't mean it is how the Carlton Football Club will go about it.

Would be a pretty hard get considering

1) He is a 1st rd player, would be contracted for 2014
2) Some of the Swans forwards would be looking at retirement in the not-too-distant future. Is he considered as part of the succession plan
3) Where would we play him? He is along the lines of Darling (Too small for a KPF). Does he address a need ???

Pick 46, not first round

We had our chance to secure Membrey last year - he slid to pick 46.

He'd be a handy player. A strong mark and a good kick for goal.

Won't be the focal point - they have Buddy and Kurt for that but as a decoy third tall who'll kick 35 goals a season and push up to the wing to provide a link up with contested marks and plenty of inside 50s.

Sakc Rogers.
