collingwoods finals series in 07 has got to be there!

the semi final against west coast that went into overtime
the prelim final that will be talked about for years and years to come!

In no particular order the top ten that I've seen since 2000 are:

Essendon v North Melbourne, Round 16, 2001-Greatest Ever Comeback
Collingwood v Geelong, Preleminary Final, 2007- Grand Final A Week Early
Essendon v West Coast, Round 3, 2004, 2004- Cracker, Hird Hugs
North Melbourne v Brisbane, Round 3, 2003-Voss misses on the siren to DRAW
Collingwood v West Coast, Semi Final, 2007, Collingwood in extra time
Essendon v Carlton, Prelimanary Final, 1999, Essendon missed a Premiership by this much .
North Melbourne v Western Bulldogs, Round 9, 2008, Johnson misses after siren
Essendon v Collingwood, Anzac Day, 2009, Dead and Gone then came Zaharakis
Geelong v St Kilda, Round 13, 2009, 1 v 2 and lived up to its hype
Geelong v Hawthorn, Round 17, 2008, 1 v 2 and delivered everything
Sydney v West Coast, 2004-2008, Nothing came between them except for 10 points

Tons more could be added

1. 2003 GF - Funniest and most enjoyable game I've seen
2. 2004 PF - Port vs St. Kilda
3. 2004 PF - Brisbane vs Geelong
4. Round 17 2004 - Brisbane vs Adelaide (141 point margin, 21.4 to 2.6 after half time)
5. 2004 QF - Lions vs Saints (I said before the game the overated Saints were going down by 80+. 80 points just happened to be the margin:D).
6. 2007 EF - Crows vs Hawks
7. Round 10 2006 - West Coast vs Cats (comeback)
8. Round 6 2005 - Brisbane vs Essendon (JB's 8 goal comeback)
9. Round 14 2009 - Saints and Cats
10. Round 3 2007 - Bombers and Carlton

Off the top of my head- the best games I have seen. Bear in mind i support the hawks. Was at all games except 89 GF and coll WC.

1 89 GF Hawks Geel. Tough, fast, Ablett.
2 2007 Prelim Coll Geel. Great desparate game. Pies unlucky.
3 2007 Elimination final. Hawks adel. Buddy and Hodgey awesome.
4 2005 Granny Syd West coast. all these games were tough and close.
5 1996 Hawks Melb merger game. Dunstall kicks 10 and 100. Finals for the hawks.
6 2008 round 17 geel hawks. even though we lost, it gave us hope.
7 2008 GF- need i say more.
8 2007 semi coll WC- what a game.
9 2009 Hawks carl- thanks fev
10 2006 Gf WC syd.

Yes the majority are recent because they stick out in memory. I have tried to include games i was actually at. GFs get bonus points because they are the biggest games of the year obviously.

1. Collingwood V Brisbane 2002 GF - Margin stayed under 10 points all day, tough, tight, Voss inspirational
2. Sydney V West Coast 2006 GF - Could say it for all the Swans-Eagles matches in that era but this was the best
3. St. Kilda V Geelong Rd 14 2009 - The battle of the undefeated lived up to expectations
4. North Melbourne V Adelaide 1998 GF - No one gave us a chance at all
5. St. Kilda V Adelaide 1997 GF - Ditto North except we were given a little more chance
6. Essendon V West Coast Rd 3 2004 - Hird, pure genius
7. St. Kilda V Brisbane Rd 6 2004 - Controversial behind kicked late in the game, but was a ripper game
8. Adelaide V Melbourne 2002 SF - 40 points up at 1/4 time, 5 goals down at 3/4 time, came back in the last quarter to win by 12 points.
9. Geelong V Collingwood 2007 PF - Close, great atmosphere, both teams desperate and just a fantastic match all around
10. Collingwood V Brisbane Rd 8 2002 - 50K at the dome, Pies shock with a tight, high-scoring 3 point win. The beginning of the rivalry.

9. Geelong V Collingwood 2007 PF - Close, great atmosphere, both teams desperate and just a fantastic match all around - Amazing game, heart breaking result

10. Collingwood V Brisbane Rd 8 2002 - 50K at the dome, Pies shock with a tight, high-scoring 3 point win. The beginning of the rivalry. - Scottie burns from memory crushed J.Brown in the first minute? and J.brown being the tough amazing player he is just rebounded. - This was my fave ever game to be at, The feeling afterward was that we could not only match it with Brisbane but we could beat them. - Of course 02 / 03 GF put paid to that thought!

The 1979 Escort Cup Grand Final - easily the best game of all time.

Kerry Good's goal after he marked it after the siren.

The Geelong St Kilda game this year has got to be up there with the best.
Not only a close game, but the standard was remarkable.

In no order:
Port-STK PF 2004
Geel-STK 2009
Syd-Brisb I think it was 2005 Hall goal after the siren to win
Ess-WCE 2004
WB-Geel 2009
2004 GF
2007 QF Port-WCE (very high intensity)
Syd-WCE various times
Geel-Port in about 03 or 04 Graham goal very late to break my heart
2008 Ballarat Football League Senior GF - Ballarat beat raging hot favourites Darley with a goal after the siren.

You've got that wrong....In that game J Brown accidently smacked Voss across the chin with his elbow, leading to scenes where voss tried to get to his feet a few times, but he kept falling over. Eventually he came back after regaining himself on tbe bench for a while.....

The game where burns crushed Brown was a grand final, I think 2003, but I will never watch that game again so I'm not sure lol

Mine are all finals, as these are the games that matter

1. West Coast v Sydney 2006 Grand Final - last quarter was epic
2. Geelong v North Melbourne 1994 PF - amazing game with amazing finish
3. Carlton v Essendon 1999 PF - unbelievable game. Was actually barracking for the Blues.
4. Sydney v Geelong 2005 SF - most dramatic finish ever
5. Adelaide v North Melbourne 1998 GF - best GF comeback I've seen.
6. Carlton v Melbourne 2000 QF - personal fave and great fightback
7. Essendon v Adelaide 1993 PF - the stolen game and stolen flag
8. Collingwood v Brisbane 2002 GF - first close GF in ages, was tough and hard
9. Geelong v Hawthorn 2008 GF - First three quarters were electric
10. Sydney v West Coast 2005 Gf - gets in on last five minutes alone

Noticed with interest that the West Australia-Victoria State of Origin game from 1986 is in several top 10 lists. Which gives you an idea just how good this game really was.

Highlights from that game were:

-WA's Brian Peake kicking 7 goals (not bad for a 32 year old, who Victorians thought was 'Past his Peake').
-Andrew Macnish's mark (and miss) in the last quarter.
-7 lead changes in the epic last quarter.
-Brad Hardie's dummy and baulk
-WA's Geoff Miles shirtfront on Victoria's Justin Madden
-Brian Royal and Dale Weightman each kicking 5 goals between them
-Gary Buckenara's goal that won the game for WA
-Wayne Blackwell's smother on Brian Royal which denied Victoria a goal in the closing stages.
