Goodbye. For the sake of our club.

Cmon I'm not one of his biggest fans, but you can't blame CC for that today. It seemed like we actually had a bit of a gameplan to stop the Dogs free running game and for periods of the match it looked like we frustrated them. The game was up for grabs in that last quarter and although they gave it a shake, close enough is not good enough, the players muffed it!!

We you watching the same game? The plan should have been simple. Man up, stay tight and put the pressure on. Not zone off, let your opponent run free and don't chase.

Like I said in my previous post, you can't play weak footy for 3 and a half quarters and then suddenly convert it to good footy just because the opposition slackens off. All that's going to happen is you play more weak footy. Our players are mentally weak and operating under a deeply flawed gameplan. That is without a shadow of a doubt the fault of the coach.

Too many soft *****!

Headland and McPharlane- same soft disinterested crap from them that we usually get. I agree with the frustrated comments about Medders, but at least he was having a crack, not like the above two and Farmer.

What about that period in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when they kicked about 9 goals to 2. The players (from radio commentary) seemed to lie down and roll over. As they did a fortnight ago, and the fortnight before that, and as they will do in a fortnight from now.

There is no point playing for "periods of a match". You have to play for 4 quarters. The players aren't prepared to do that under CC, and for this reason he has to go. He can't get the best out of the talent he has at his disposal and it sh*&ts me to tears.

I kind of agree, but then I start to think: It is Round 11 and we look like a 7 to 10 on the ladder side, same as 2005 and same as 2004. We are caught in a cycle where we don't play well enough to make the finals, yet we don't play bad enough to cause any shake ups.
If things continue this way I wouldn't be disappointed to see a coach change for 2007.

Sure I agree with those 2 period of the match, but I thought those periods were more to *****-poor efforts by the players on the ground than the coaching structure. I mean if you look at my previous posts I don't agree with CC's coaching methods, but I think today it was more of a case of the players not sticking to the gameplan. When they did, the dogs became frustrated and started kicking it back / not knowing where to go. I reckon the coaching and instruction were probably correct, the problem lies in the fact that he can't get the players to stick with it.

We look like a 7 to 10 side because of our coach.

If we had a decent coach we'd look like a top 4 side.

And there is the simple reason why he shouldn't be coaching the team.

And how long do we give the coach to get his gameplan through to the players (and that's assuming it's not the soft, weak, zonal gameplan i'm seeing just about every week)?

5 years enough?

Are you saying they should stand up and be counted whilst on the bye? (in a fortnight from now)

Medhurst and Jimmy.

Frustrating to see how poor the Dockers skills continue to be, and how dysfunctional our forward line is.

Oh yeah, is Happy the master of the high bomb? FFS, kicking to Pav on the lead should be our strong point.

A really odd mixture of opinions including Medhurst lost it for us with poor kicking for goal, Gilmore can't kick direct but floats it up etc then somehow this adds up to sack the coach. Really poor perspective. I didn't see the game, but from reading posts, enough opportunities were created for us to win another away game. Keep the coach, drop the players who are out of form and bring in those who are. See where we get to at the end of the year, and improve the squad.

I can see the press conference now.

"It was a disappointing loss. We really came here to play, it was a big game for us. We had our chances, but couldn't take them. We've just got to regroup and come out next week at Subi and try to win, next week is another big game for us."

And not to forget: "Wer'e looking forward to the challenge"!
PFFT!!!!
11 flipping years of frustration. I normally avoid posting whilst emotional, but hey, FK IT!!!
Freo had the chance in the last quarter to "steal" the match, but stuffed it up!!! .............................AGAIN!

We have the most frustrating and disfunctional forward line I have ever seen. All them stars there in one heap with the exception of Pav, all producing a heap of nothing....week in and week out. Mcpharlin came on the scene in the forward line and looked like he could be anything, when it's panned out ,he is a big nothing. Medhurst is hot and cold and Farmer who usually gives 100% ,couldn't seem to take a trick today. For crying out loud, and we've all been saying it for weeks now,. put Mcpharlin back to CHB. Polak was very poor today,he isn't really a ruckman and I don't think he mobile enough to be one. Our midfielders are contributing to very poor delivery into and forward line which is not helping and our backline are really not running down deep into our attacking zone to provide more delvery options for our forwards. It is a culmination of all these things and it is only individual efforts that have kept us in games and won us games, not enough of TEAM PLAY like the doggies showed us today, it has to be the coaching. we just are not making any progress.....same old, same old. Will it ever change ?????? dissolutioned

I said it before and repeat it again, as long as players such as Gilmore and Medhurst get a game the Dockers are going nowhere!

Just draft a midfield and we are set. Connoly can coach. He tells the players the right things but the midfield is the most important component and it is not good enough.

Trade for picks, get 2 or 3 midfielders with talent.

Do not trade for wells.

For now I think our biggest problem is a dysfunctional forward line. Just not organised enough. Yes, the midfield is adding to the problem with delivery but we need a way to isolate Pav and maybe another tall (Murphy or McPharlin). It needs to be cleared out a bit. Look how much space Brad Johnson had to lead into today. We seem to be just bombing it in, hoping for a lucky dip, rather than having any proper structure down there.

Rubbish. These players dont want to play or win for connolly. They just cant see that they need to turn up every week and that's the coaches job.

Sack CC.

The problem is, going W-L-W-L and so on, he will never get sacked. I barrack for the team to win each week, but sometimes I wonder if we'd be better to just lose a heap in a row. The players just do not want to work hard enough at the level required over 4 quarters, and that is the coach's responsibility. The coach is supposed to get the best out of the player's ability, and CC just can not do that. Assuming we lose this game on now, the last 3 away games have been a distinct lack of effort that is not good enough.

Can't get thru Consistently!!

Why don't they stick to the game plan?
