I can understand that a young team will have these kinds of ups and downs when developing. But to bring in a player like Thursfield who must understand that he is about to be given the bullet and then watch a disinterested display from him, has me worried on what is going on behind the scenes at tigerland.
I cant quite phathom what their plan is, or if there is one.
They kept their structure going for the whole year, making minimal ins and outs, week in week out and then there are 4 changes to the side, on the back of a not to bad performance last week? Strange stuff...players in for a week and out the next? Players who are in the gone queue, being selected in their place?
Strange...very strange..;)

Gourdis' display against Melbourne was totally inept and looked so far out of his depth it was not funny . Sure , he got a few touches but int he contests and one on ones he was totally lost . Did not know where to position himself , constantly on the wrong side of the ball and outplayed .

This is what forced Dimma's hand on the selection of Thursfield , the mindset anyway . Hindsight now would say maybe he should have given the kid a chance to redeem himself but i'm sure there are behind the scenes "nuances" the we are unaware of in the selection process ..(see Gourdis' "rumoured" issues)

Thursfield was a bloke playing for his career yesterday and showed the intestinal fortitude of that chick rower who stopped rowing at the Olympics .

I'd be very surprised if we ever see Will Thursfield in a Richmond jumper again

And they both need shafting for their inept performances.......

Sorry ID i am a believer that people get paid top dollar because we dont have to talk about hindsight.
At the end of the day and I am not sold on Gourdis, but to bring a player in for 1 game then drop him and include a player who produces what Thursfield produced is extremely worrying, especially when they also dropped McGuane..
I am also not a Tuck fan, but to retain a hack like Hislop, purely on the back of a pat on the back for perserverence, they ended up with 20 on the field before we began the game. We wont even go to the ruck debate...that one is fast becoming a mystery of mega proportions..If Dimma and co can see anything in Browne that is an upgrade to Gus then with all due respect, Dimma is slowly readying himself to become another tiger coaching tradegy. ;)

Amazing that a Gourdis shocker is 16 possessions, 7 contested, 7 spoils, no turnovers, no clangers, conceeded 2 goals to direct opponent, imagine what he is capable of in a good game, agree his intensity was low, but FFS give him a chance to pick up the pace of AFL, not 1 game

O'Reilly is coming back from injury, it is guys like him and Dea along with Grimes, Moore, Astbury that are ahead of the current clan of Thursfield, Farmer and Gourdis that are getting a go.

We have little depth back there so it is why a return to Deledio going back there is quite likely if another Carlton display occurs.

No turnovers? The way he was kicking it last week he created a few. The problem is the stat is most likely taken in terms of who touched it last so one of our players getting a finger to a stray pass probably sees them getting the TO.

Thursfield, McGuane, Gourdis, NOT THE PROBLEM.
Anyone who has played full back for a sh!t team knows there is absolutely nothing you can do if the midfield is putting zero pressure on the guy delivering the ball to the opposition forwards.

They can control how they use the ball when they get it, and that side of their game isnt up to standard either.

Thursfield is finished thats been made official as of 2.11 yesterday.

McGuane rightfully dropped

Gourdis looks a bit lost out there but will most likely come back in you would think.

Dead right about that. I remember after one game saying to my brother "I reckon I had 30 kicks today" and he said "BULLSHIT!" to which I replied "Well, they kicked 25 points" and I was Full Back taking the kickouts...

At the end of the day, Goo was dropped after one game. Either the match committee thought he didn't perform or there was some injury/discipline issue which we are not aware of.
