Jeez Tackles and Goals Galore. Thats what we need at The Moment.

I still dunno why we gave up Adkins to Get a Hack For! I always knew adkins was gonna be a Decent Player.

Scotland is very promising. 117 posessions 32 marks and 4 goals in his first 5 games for the Blues.

Those stats should make Port cry. Scotland wanted to leave Collingwood, we didn't sack him, and only traded him at the last minute after it was patently clear Port weren't going to budge.

Should have kept Adkins, though.

Scotland didnt want to go to Port. You cant send a player where he doesnt want to go.
Scotland was always coming to Carlton. We had spoken to his management and he told Denis "Get me there!"It seems he couldnt get away from collingwood fast enough.
I always thought he was a good player,. i really didnt realise how good he was.

Stevens didn't want to go to Carlton. Rawlings didn't want to go to Footscray.

Sometimes you only get your "second" choice. (Besides, Port didn't want Scotland anyway, if they had shown a keen interest in him I'm sure Scotland's attitude would have swung around 180%)

If Collingwood had done a Port and refused to trade Scotland he wouldn't be at Carlton now. So be thankful that Collingwood respects the wishes of their players instead of trying to prove some crap point and losing good players for nothing.

Adkins was always in the same boat as Scotland though. He couldn't get a game either through injury or lack of opprtunity. When we were going o.k do you really think Adkins would've got a run in the middle. I believe he asked to be traded as well, in order to get a better go. Good luck to him.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing I spose but we must get over it!

Oh, and lets hope Lovett-Murray doesn't kill us today!

Can't see Lovett-Murray playing again for a while unless Sheedy has a soft spot for him. Totally undisciplined. At least we can see why he was let go. The last thing we need is another flashy, inconsistent type who spends the entire match going for the big mark and miracle goal.

It was a bit like that today for him. He'll have a day though when all that stuff comes off for him. Just glad it wasn't today.

Scotland was traded for 2 reasons
1) He couldnt leave Collingwood because he had a years contract left.- He didnt want to be there in the end and let them know it. He wasnt given game time and unnapreciated. You cant have players at a club when they just dont want to be there.,
2) He was seen as currency for the Nick Stevens trade.

As for Nick, he knew he was never going to collingwood but knowing that he was happy to go to Carlton as a 2nd destination.
BTW, Nick wasnt happy being told that everything will be done to get hiom to collingwood and then at crunch time collingwood ummmmed and arrrrrrred.l

If he wasn;t traded to carlton he could get there after Stevens was in the draft and the Dog's were after Rawlings. Heath woulod have had to go where he was told or nominate for the draft and go somewhere other than Carlton. Not that he didn't deserve better treatment but the reality is I think he would have gone to Port and they were the stupid ones for not taking him.

No Adkins was badly suffering from OP and we were not patient enough once he started to recover. Adkins had exactly what we desperately needed then and still do. Pace and a willingness to use it to run both straight at goal and around an oncoming player. The fact we traded him annoyed me at the time. The fact it was for another slow player is an out and out joke.

Well, Scotland was currency for Stevens. Scotland wasnt going anywhere but Carlton. Collingwood needed a last attempt to trade for Stevens. Collingwood traded Scotland in hope. Port wasnt interested.Carlton ended up with Stevens and Scotland.
Thats how it went.

Collingwood were hamstrung because they had No currency having traded for the Shaws and not having a player they could agree with Port on.Carlton didnt have a 2nd round pick. Port wanted 2 first rounds. Collingwood were hoping a 1st and early 3rd might do it.

Those are impressive stats but he is probably getting alot of gametime in the middle etc for Carlton. As far as Port was concerned even with Stevens leaving they already had the cattle for the midfield and didn't want another player who would have struggled to be in our best 22. Scotland wouldn't have been rated higher then Francou, James, Burgoyne, Carr, Cornes and Wilson... and Port already had developing midfielders in Ebert, Salopek and Cassissi.

But I am not turning this into another Port v Collingwood: Stevens Trade thread. Just wanted to say Scotland is doing well for Carlton with more gametime and is greater need at Carlton then at Port.

Cheers

Ahhh, Chipper.

Once every month and a half, he'd string two good quarters together and he was a bloody superstar. Nothing's changed.

Not much different to Leon Davis really!
Disagree and always have. He is getting stronger and fitter. His type always are in and out of games as they mature. His type win games though whereas some of ours save them. You need both and we don't have enough of his type to win premierships.
