Sunday 10th August we play the Crows which IMO is our most important match of the season. This game makes or breaks our season as we will obviously struggle against Hawthorn next week but should prevail against Freo and Melbourne. To win against the Crows, our boys will need to be switched on for at least 3 quarters, something the Blues failed to achieve yesterday. What a massive game this is.......win and not rely on other results if we succeed in Rounds 21 & 22!

We're not good enough. Simple as that. We're getting there, but we still have a little way to go yet. Won't make it, and I can see us losing one of Freo or melbourne.

Agree. Based on the way Melbourne played yesterday, they would beat us.

Which do you prefer: (a) barely finish 8th and get smashed by Sydney or North in the first week of the finals; or (b) have 2 honourable losses to Adelaide and Hawthorn, win the last 2, finish 9th and have that 'momentum' going into next year?

I personally prefer option (b). No use playing in September if all it will do is destroy the young kids' confidence.

Being on the 'big stage' for the first week of September is a great platform for the Tigers to build going into '09! Doubt very much if it will hinder our young kids especially if playing in Melbourne!

**** off Bombers! This thread has nothing to do with you.

I hope we win and I hope we do make the finals. We need all the finals experience we can get.

Yeah, I can definitely see the upside of playing 1 final this year. But, in each of the past 2 finals series we've played (and it hurts me to bring these up), we were towelled in Prelims by Brisbane (2001) and Geelong (1995) and went on the miss the finals the following year.

Buddy, we havent played in consecutive finals seasons since 1971 to '75!

Before I was born, but I take your point. My point is that this trend may continue if they make the finals before they are ready, get smashed, then lose all confidence.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the tigers in the finals and would book a flight and come back to watch if they made it. Just my personal opinion that after yesterday's reality check, it may be better for the players psyche to not make it this year.

Same wavelength dude, reckon they may give us supporters something to get excited about then drop 1 of the last 2 .

Everyone writes us off because we lost to Geelong? Dear me.

I am just happy that its Round 19, we're still in the hunt and I will be at the game and for the first time, the match is worth a lot to us.

Crows are a slow team...I am quietly confident.

I really cannot picture us heading backward (if we play finals this season)! Our club undoubtedly is on the up and with another solid pre-season, we should make an significant impact next season.

Exactly Sante. We just got over the line against Brisbane and everyone starts talking about an upset over Geelong.
They are a class above everyone else and people start saying we wont beat Melbourne or Freo just because we lost to them.
Give me a break!
We are going to get a whole lot more out of it if we beat Adelaide, Freo and Melbourne and make the finals. Even if we lose the first final its 100 times better than finishing 9th again and copping crap until next year.

SPOT ON (possibly 8th this season and propably top 6 in '09)!

no matter what happens the team has come a long way this season theres not too many times you go to the footy these days thinking hell we have no chance and this week we are a definate chance against the crows.

Tigers just cant match it with the top sides

time to understand that
And you need to understand that Essendon can't match it with Richmond.
You are our bitch

North, Collingwood, brisbane

weve got the cats and hawks in our sights

we dont have to wirry about richmond as they dont play finals

I agree with tugga, we aren't quite good enough (yet) for finals.....and it's not just a knee-jerk reaction to a loss against geelong either..

You're a goer...I'll grant you that.
We beat Brisbane too. Collingwood are a rabble at the moment. North? Meh?
Try again big boy, I know you can do better.
