This is why we up and down.We really only have 1 A grader in Judd with Murphy and Gibbs near it one day.

A Grade
Judd

Players who win games from their boot only Judd.

B Grade

Gibbs
Murphy
Kreuzer
Simpson
Waite
Betts

I have to say with Betts and Simpson being consistent they would be good players.Waite may be lucky to be a B grader now after 2 years of inconsistent form and injuries.

C grade or just good players

Scotland
Houilhan
Bower
Jamison
Thornton
Russell
Walker
Carrazoo
Joseph
Robinson
Armfield

Some will say Scotland,Carrazoo,Walker and Houilhan are as good as those B players but all are good so i give them a C.

I think i can add Armfield,Robinson and Joseph to that list now.Bower has a chance to be on that B list but injuries have been his curse.

Really Struggling at this stage or expected more at this stage. It's a shame about O'keefe as we haven't seen much.

Warnock
Anderson
Mclean
Grigg
Hampson
Browne
Austin
O'keefe
Tiller

Players at the cross road of footy.

Hadley
Johnson
Wiggins
Fisher
Ohailipin

Players who are really nothing at this stage then hopeful potentials.

Kerr
Davies
Casboult
Dare
Donaldson
Tuohy

Promising at this stage

Lucas
Yarran
Gartlett
Henderson
Jacobs
White

What it tells me our list of younger players need to be doing a bit better then what they have been giving. This especially with that Struggling list.C grade or just good players will look weaker if 4 of the older players retire in the next few years.

For once I like your thread, although I think Gibbs and Murphy should be A grade, Murphy is having a good season, Gibbs just needs a rocket up his arse, has looked disinterested and taking his spot in the 22 for granted, it seems like.

I just think this season Gibbs hasn't really done much, maybe it is the fault of the coach for playing him in the back line, and it could be affecting himm but whatever the reason I haven't been too impressed with him, I love the kid and think he will be a star, and yes it is ok to ask questions, so don't run me down.

Spuds - i reckon you're pretty much spot on - agree wholeheartedly with your A's and B's - I don't think Gibbs and Murphy are A's yet.
I would have the last 3 C's as promising - and probably have Setanta as a C after his start t o the year.

Pretty sure Gibbs sat down with 50% of the posters on BF and told them personally he didn't really care about his spot in the team :o

When the bloke looks disinterested at contest its not hard to tell, generally body language (maybe for reasons outside of footy) he doesnt seem to be enjoying his footy and his results have followed suit.

Something will spark within the gun maybe not this week or the next but hes gonna have a good end of year to follow on next one i would say :).

Bower definitely a B, Russell another. Scotland would be on his season to date.

I agree with Gibbs as a B at the moment though would have Murphy as an A. Granted he hasn't had as good a season as he did last year when he was stiff to miss out on AA selection but he didn't have a preseason.

I agree with Joseph,Robinson,Armfield they probably more promising but that C group was rather short. It should be longer as in good players.Setanta i would have him near it at the start of the season. He has dropped badly of late like recent years. It maybe because of injuries or just clubs worked him out? I would have Fisher in their but he hasn't had much input in 2 years.I still give him one more go as Fevola is gone and we never tested him if their is a future in him.

His disposal was deplorable (which is the only time I can remember him having that problem for an entire game) game he still put in enough effort to gather 33 touches.

I love seeing him grit the teeth, break the line and run hard, that's what we don't see quite enough from him yet, once he starts doing this it won't matter what position he's playing in.

He's mentioned before that he wants to get fitter so that he can play more of an outside role, I reckon it's been an instruction fro the coaches to be more of a receiver when possible but he does do some pretty classy work at the clearances sometimes.

Been a bit of talk lately about a back injury, hope he gets it right soon so he can dispose of the ball without any hassle.

To the OP, Murphy is A grade.

I agree Bower would get a B in time but has missed a lot of footy.I only rate a A for players who really are the difference. The player time and time again wins games for us.Murphy is a gun at times but also goes missing also once he breaks games like Judd he surely will be A class.Their nothing bad on being a B grade good player.

I think Betts is B+ on current form and Murphy and Gibbs A, Gibbs just needs to be maybe moved into the middle, he is wasted at the back, he is the creative force at Carlton. I want to see him play in the centre from now on in.

He is very near it players in All Australian sides are mostly A grade. He would be a B+

Surely Murph and Gibbs both finishing in the Top 10 in last years Brownlow gives them an A grade rating. Both better than B graders for me.

I get the feeling Gibbs will be moved their next year or the next permanent with maybe Yarran when Carlton set up a stable defence.I think at 21 they just getting him to learn how to play defensively.

Your kiddin yourself if you think Scotland is a C.
He would be in our top 3 in the B&F count at the moment.

He has been one of our most consistent performers over the past 5-6 years, yet still undervalued by many supporters.
Name one more consistent performer since 2004 aside from Judd, Fevola and Simpson.

Rate the bloke highly, but not highly enough to be an "A".

They A grade on paper on what pick they got and top 10 finish but both have to break games more consistently to be really players that clubs fear. They near it.

Agree sound Scotland should be a B or B+ he does bust his balls for us and has ton of courage.

Agree entirely on this assesment, only Judd is a A grader. Other top teams have three or 4 A graders. You forgot something we have C grade coaching panel, bordering on c-.

That accounts for a c grade side which we are at the moment!!

This list just tells us why we struggle. It's not really a strong list. The B grade players Waite,Betts,Gibbs go missing in games or don't hurt the opposition. The C grade players Joseph,Robinson,Armfield,Jamison are all players still young but need to step up more. They the weakest link in the 22.Thornton,Walker and Carrazoo can play patchy and time again do turn it over.
