.......but Reg is going to have to do some time in Canberra. There are things that can be forgiven in football but there are things that simply can't. Barlow knows all about it.

Now don't get me wrong, I believe Reg is probably our most important backman into the future. But I only watched the second half today and his laziness cost us four goals. And laziness is simply unforgivable. Riewoldt's (very good) mark, that bloke who got knocked out (?).....his goal, and two other similar incidents were all cases of play stopping and Reg dropping his head only for play to open up again and Reg being flat footed. You make that mistake once in a game, maybe even twice. But you don't make it four bloody times!! Complete lack of awareness from a bloke who has already copped a spray from Roosy for blaming others for his hard luck in the past. I don't care how important he is, laziness is contagious and it needs to be stamped out now.

I'm not dirty that he was beaten, it is how he was beaten, and it's not the first time.

Sorry to intrude, but is Reg Heath Grundy??

If so, then I agree he was out done today by a better opponent in Riewoldt (gun) but he also didn't do himself any favours with a couple of his efforts.

He will learn from them, I think he will be a very very good player.

You don't reward laziness in a backman by playing them foward. Problem is, up forward, Roosy keeps playing White too deep. He is a born CHF. Full Fowards need tricks that White simply doesn't possess. He should be playing up the ground and someone like Currie playing out of the goalsquare. That could make Goodes a secondary target across half forward and an impossible match up.

I appreciate the frustration but we have noone to replace him with.

Richards?

Reward him? What makes you think he's being rewarded mate? We need to try something different.

meh Grundy did a far better job on Riewoldt than LRT. LRT had some really good moments today but he had some really awful ones as well.

Our whole backline was shaky today, Malceski was pathetic on 2 of Collins goals, absolutely piss weak pathetic. Kennelly was non-existent, which is about the nicest thing you can say about one of our defenders. Mattner was attrocious, so many ridiculous decisions, I'm not sure he has a fully functional brain. Ditto for Shaw. Grundy was thoroughly beaten.

But we were pathetic overall. That was probably the worst we have played under Roos, we were physically beaten by a bunch of kids. They wanted it more, they were cleaner, that was certainly the worst loss I can remember as well as our worst performance. It is barely even worth mentioning that the umpires slaughtered us again because we in no way deserve to win a game we play that poorly in, I don't know why we are so afraid of taking the game on and trying to kick goals, our team is better suited to that because quite frankly we are soft.

The fact is that we are having a hard enough time covering for Bolts down back and Grundy, while he has lapses, is generally far from our worst when we don't play well. At least we can put him on a legitimately good forward and expect him to do a reasonable job - unlike Shaw or Malceski.

Oh, and Jack Riewoldt is ridiculous. Getting pansed by him is no disgrace.

So the other 21 players are excused? I think you'll find Reg limited LRT's earlier ineffectiveness on Riewoldt, but make no mistake Riewoldt IS ON FIRE! The Swans ARE NOT!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Grundy was not the worst today and in fact did better on Jack than LRT was doing hence why he was moved there. You should have watched the first half Mr Bruce.

Now there was one were he gave up when smith was under the Ball and Jack came and snatched it from home, every right to be critical there but all in all Jack kicked 2 on Reg in 2 1/2 qtrs and 3 on LRT on a 1 and 1/2 and ran off him a couple of times and hit Goodes in the forward line from it.

Now before I earn Mr PB's wraith I just thought this was a bad match up and LRT performed very well on Griffiths which was a much better match up for him and became very effective.

Jack Riewoldt is on some special kind of fire at the moment and Reg did not have his best game but is not among my worst today and he aint going to Canberra.

The AFL has got a lot to answer for here...this is simply worse than sirengate! I protest!

I think some people are missing my point. It's not about being beaten or not being beaten, or being beaten by more or less than another bloke. It's about effort and laziness. Reg dropped his bundle four times.

Your overreacting. A defender is only as good as his midfield and our midfield let down our defender today and dropping Reg to prove a point isn't going to solve any of the mistakes he made today or make him an All-Australian.

Do you get what I am criticising, Bedford? It's four separate instances in one half of football of a player stopping playing when the play wasn't dead. Collins last goal, Grundy was the second player on the mark. The one who SHOULD have covered the play on. He simply stood behind Malceski and watched. Riewoldt's excellent mark again caught Grundy napping. A third instance he turned his back on the play and went to jog back to the goal square and the Swan on the mark fell, leaving the Tiger with an easy play on. It has nothing to do with what happened in the first half, unless you're saying that there were other players that were equally inattentive.

Grundy has the ability to be a very good backman. But too often he is caught napping by clever forwards. I've seen it in him before, but four times in a half is inexcusable.
