About injuries this season. We have the most games lost to injuries to our best 22 of any side in the competition, and apparently MaCaffer and Benny Johnson are not best 22 players...This includes all of Carlton, Essendon and West Coast.
I think any success we have this year is remarkable when you consider injury interupted years for any player normally see them perform below their best for a stretch.

LOL at posters saying Ben Johnson is in our best 22. Remember how Benny was the forums whipping boy for so long... certain posters asking how he would get a game with his helicopter kicks and turnovers? I agree he is in our best 22 but when the chips are down its funny how you suddenly realise how much you need someone.

I never bagged ben johnson. I always thought he has been important. Especially in 2010-2011. His run is what we will miss when he retires.

Not sure if it made me feel better, was feeling ok as it was. Will be great to get some crucial players back soon!

I just want to point out that Greg Baum produced an article last year in the Age revealing a few surprising facts about Johnno. Two of them were that he covers more ground than Swan and hits more targets than Swan (perhaps last not so amazing on Swannies 2012 form but hey) In the past few years certainly we rarely lose a game when Johnson has played and almost never lose when he plays well. Newsflash: Johnson is best 22. I would love to see him make a late bid for this year, esp. given it is likely his last.

Not quite right - Port listed as 105 missed games to your 93 (Yeah I know they don't count)

If a team has missed that much of their best 22 (as Port and Collingwood have) then it makes practical sense to also look at injuries to players who would have otherwise replaced them. I've got no idea what that is for Port, but for Collingwood you can list 'Caff, Keeffe, BJ apparently, Sinclair and Williams which is another 40 games or so.

Ben Johnson for a few years now has the highest retention rate of disposal in the league. That means his possessions land with his team mates more than any other player int he league. Ans considering he is a high kick to handball player, plus is coming out of defense most of the time, his kicking efficiency is extremely good.

I think he had one poor year of kicking in about 2004 and that has just stuck in people's minds, but he hits targets....a lot.

I hope Ben plays on next year he does not deserve to go out with the shoulder ending his season and career, one more year from Ben would be good and I think he has earnt it over the course of his career.
