I don't. Opening game of Buckleys coaching career v Hawthorn we conceded over 120 points with Keeffe at full back. The amount of times he was smashed in that game was embarrassing. Yagmoor debuted never played again and so shouldve Keeffe. The only time Keeffe was any good was as a forward against the Suns up at the GC. He kicked 4 goals with Malthouse as coach. As a defender Keeffe was a spud.

He was left in the VFL for a reason! Even Buckley knew he was shit!

What's more is that we were trying him forward right before the drug abuse in a last ditch Hail Mary because we knew he is a shocking defender and had no intent on playing him there in 2015. And he'd have failed badly as a KP forward.

We clearly retained Keeffe for reasons other than footy.

If we re-draft him, it will be the most short sighted resigning since Marty Clarke.

Can we trade rookies??

Josh Thomas of the two is the one who can force his way in, particularly pushing out a guy like Jarryd Blair/Rupert Wills/Tom Phillips etc.
Even Levi Greenwood.
He is an inside player but he can break away from congestion- which is something really only Treloar does.

He was playing some consistent footy and was on track for further improvement before the ban.
Still 24yrs old turning 25.

Josh Thomas is a drug cheat and a muppet.
He's not overly intelligent either, throwing quite a few of his teammates under the bus when talking about taking illicit drugs to a complete stranger on FB.
We don't need that piece of shit at Collingwood.

Is there any likelihood these two will have any currency with a year out of the game?

I do see a role for Keeffe but not so much for Thomas with Aish JDG coming along.

In hindsight I think there may have been some politics involved with retaining them in so much as showing the players we will stick by you.

Will be interesting to see how the players welcome them back into the fold over pre-season and also to see if they are going to have a dip at getting their careers back on track.

Completely agree, the romance and nostalgia associated with players that haven't played for a while builds them up to be some sort up premiership top-up players. Keeffe makes Nathan Brown (in his current state of form) look like Bruce Doull.

Keep them on the rookie list and see what they can do . But its a long way back from here. They wont have a lot of grace, will need to start performing from day one.

The bitching and moaning aboot what they did and whether they deserve to be retained is pointless now.

Or trade them for O'Meara (we could throw Oxley in for free) . Suns need locals...

To me a cheat is someone who knowingly takes an action to gain an unfair advantage on a competitor. Whilst I believe recreational drugs - particularly amphetamines - can be used to gain advantage I see no evidence for that in this case. They went out to party on the toot and were busted. Stupid maybe but not cheating in my book. How many players could be labelled cheats in the pies list (or any clubs list) now and past would have done exactly what they did? If they are cheats then I suggest we are watching a bunch of cheats playing AFL footy most weeks.
