weve got hille in the ruck and ryder has done more in half a year than what carts has done in 3 years
also laycock can play ruck
is cartledges 4th year and i honestly think he will get delisted at end of year but id like to know wat other people think

At the start of the year I said that he neededto show something to stay on the list.. There is an old thread on it I cant be bothered finding it.. I haven't seen any bendigo games this year so I can't comment on how he is going but if Ryder is getting games ahead of him it can't be too well

I think the bigger problem is how are we going to play Hille, Laycock and Ryder in the one side? At the moment, what could be our biggest stength, is our biggest problem. One of them has to play as a forward and I don't think Ryder can, so is it Hille or Laycock?

Personally, with our season gone, I'd like to see Ryder ruck in the two's, pick either Hille or Laycock as the forward, ruck the other and have Carts come of the bench. I don't think he is that bad. Maybe for the next few weeks anyway.

I thought the writing was on the wall for Carts when Hille was out suspended, Laycock still out unfit and yet he still didn't get a game...

Will be interesting to see if any other club wants him...?

I'll be be very surprised if he makes it.

We seem to do best when Hille is rucking at least 75% of the time, which is not good for him getting a go. Laycock can play forward too and has a better leap than Hille while Ryder could have the most natural talent of the lot of them though needs a couple years to bulk up and get the hang of it.

I don't know if Carts brings anything to the table the others don't.

well put.. i dont see why hille doesnt ruck with ryder and laycock up forward.. i mean the captain around the ball all game cant be bad.. when he rucked V collingwood i thought it was the best game he played all year.. kicked a few and lifted the boys and gee we nearly won!.. hille up forward (espcially against a good backline) gets destroyed.. laycock can mark, will continually develop and get stronger and i think the experience will be good for him, i no the season is nearly dead but if we can find the winning formula and then get some confidence back in the midfield, i think we could pose a danger.. hill to ruck!

I think that he was injured at that stage... I think he missed quite a few matches at the start of the season and then came back and got injured again...

He also missed part of the preseason as well I think...

He certainly is in danger, however we do need 4 rucks on our list. We have the rookie in McKinnon who I think is a ruckman as well, but the guy is out for the season with a shoulder reconstruction....

Hopefully now that he is getting some consecutive games he will start to improve. It will also depend on ruck options in the draft this season...

Perhaps we could delist him and then put him on the rookie list in the hope that he may come good as he gets older.....

i doubt very much would be on our list next year. may be worth putting him on the rookie list maybe but i doubt it will happen. could be trade bait to a team that needs a ruckman like st kilda or even carlton.

i also agree that hille has to ruck as he is our best ruckman and also gives us a target up the ground. i like laycock at full forward as he has shown some signs that he can play up there. just needs to stay there and learn the position.

You reckon? All I have seen from Ryder, is looking like a rabbit in the headlights out on the ground. It's not a sledge of Ryder as I was glad we drafted him, but it is to be expected of a first year player, expecially a big man, thrown in the deep end.

Laycock I thought made abit of a impact when he replaced Hille in the ruck in the first quater but his form overrall hasnt been that good that he is "untouchable"

If Cartledge keeps gettting amongst the best for Bendigo then he will come into the side.

Anymore news on the bendigo game?

Lost by a kick.

Reynolds kicked a few (4 or 5), Hocking dropped an easy mark about 40 from goal, had he kicked straight we probably would have won.

Longergan and JJ were pretty good.

That's about all I know.

Was in Bendigo's best today, FWIW.

Probably going to have to do that a lot more though to be back next year.
I managed to catch the last half of the game and from what i saw, cartledge did diddly squat. I fact I called him "a useless idiot" twice when he dropped something he should have marked and when he miss timed his run in the ruck (again). He also spent crutial time on the bench in the last qtr when the game was up for grabs, so how he got into the best players I don't know, perhaps the first half he was a superstar?
On another note though I watched Lee with interest, from what i saw, he deserves a call up. He's got a great build for a key back, he read the ball well and his agility and speed are mouth watering and under pressure he has a cool head. With Keps likely out, it's time to play Lee.

It couldnt hurt us any more by putting Cartledge in the seniors. Cant see any logical explanation by placing Ryder in the forward line....he'd get mauled by every backman the minute the ball hits the turf.
Hille, Laycock should be pencilled in every week for forward rotational purposes...with the emphasis on Hille n Laycock btw CHF/FF.

By the way, anyone think Sheeds would be considering Everitt as a 'senior' target?
