Cannot be stuffed going into detail, but here are my thoughts:

Cloke: Wasn't an influence
Shaw: Cannot kick
O'Bree: Cannot kick
Medhurst: Worst game for the season
Brown: Got taught a very, very valuable lesson today. Will be better off for it.
Swan and Pendlebury: Down by their standards, but both amongst our best.

Weird feeling really. About 10 minutes ago I was very upset about it, but now I'm feeling much more positive. We had a very young team today up against a side reaching its peak both for the year and list-wise. The loss hurts, but in reality we were't going to win the flag this year so chances are we would've lost next week if we hadn't this week.

I'm glad that today's loss wasn't a "dignified" one as such to be honest. We got exposed heaps. Our midfield lacks class, and some positions on the ground need to be attended to. If anything, today showed the footy world that Collingwood needs to make a major play for Daniel Kerr.

No Pressure and Kicking was Terrible. Young Kids just were Mentally Tired.

I was pissed when we were getting Flogged but I am okay Now - Got Some Good Young Kids and This Experince for them is Huge.

Agree with OBree and R Shaw Clanger Kings and Should go for Better Inside Mids who Can Kick Like Give Stanley a GO

Alot of negatives but dont forget we kicked around 18 behinds, so imagine if we kicked at least six of those (very gettable) and st kilda wouldve been on the back foot.

Anyway, an up and down season, but looking forward next year to rusling, rocca, h.shaw, didak, burns and presti, AND hopefully cousins:)

Plus the Saints had a Night Out - Kicking 17-4 Does not Happen very Often

Disappointing...
We could have kicked straighter...but them's the breaks.

Saints were just too good and we could not get a goal for love nor money.
I am happy we did the right thing by Harves...we still got class in defeat.
I am still proud though.
A great year considering.

Have to quickly go and change my avatar to 09.

top 6 with such a young side is a great effort and a lots experiance for them, saints played great footy tonight and they deserve the win

Pretty disappointing, but we have plenty to look forward to in the future. Intensity was down and kicking was terrible, we got it inside 50 enough times but couldn't find a target and when we did couldn't kick the goal.

Most of the team was down, Cloke and Medhurst both struggled, Swanny kept trying all game and was pretty good.

pendlebury could not hit a target, his kicking is flipping shocking, and he wont put his body on the line.

we kept kicking to there loose man for some stupid reason

Had 6 More Scoring Shots then the Saints.

That says a lot

Dream on.

Brown will be a much better player for it, big first year playing almost every game.

We need to find a big guy who can jump.

A midfielder who thinks.

Outcoached

Major moves which effectively cost us:
- Riewoldt smashed Brown for 3 quarters nothing was done until the last term where Maxwell clearly had the better..
- Should have got Medhurst in the game more. Fisher on him was a mis-match all night. Should have played him onball.
- Travis Cloke moved up ground and push either Fraser or Bryan up forward.
- Someone could have run with Dal Santo and Hayes.

At the end of the day with the team we had our chance and blew it, full credit to the Saints for exploiting our weaknesses.

No, we only had 1 more shot, there four saints walkthrough points, to our zero - it was our lazy kicking into the forward line that hurt us - there has to be a question mark over bryan again - remember the geelong final last year? what has happened to cam wood?

Had more scoring shots, more inside 50s, and I think (could be wrong) had more clearances until 3-qtr time.

The easiest finals win the Saints will get. A team who kicks that badly in front of goal, who turns the ball over that much going into 50, it hardly asked for the best out of the Saints.

They played better, sure, look at the score, but we lost that game almost as much as the Saints won it.

Travelled three times in the last month, I dunno, we ran out of legs, personnel, something maybe. Guys had off nights. Those labelling some guys as "can't kick, delist them", these guys had such an out of character night. Everyone was poor. Even those reliable kickers.

After last year, I'll take 6th. Big pre-season, and we'll be a sniff in a year or two.

Injuries finally caught up with us, that mixed with 3 interstate trips in 4 weeks led to a mentally tired Collingwood.

At least we found out a few home truths over the last few weeks;

* Chris Bryan is, doesnt look like, and never will be an AFL standard footballer, we got rid of Guy Richards, bye bye Bryan
* We have some depth, but not in certain places, lacked tall forwards, and placed kids in these spots at end of year.
* We are in need of pace, simply put, we were slow tonight.
* We need one more key defender at least, with Wakes gone, Presti almost gone and a lack of a replacement for that position, a trade is required.

As for tonight, when Presti and Burns were named as out, it was all downhill from there, as our backline struggled all night, and our forward lacked that spark, that had been there previously.

Maybe with a 2nd ruckmen we wouldnt have had to run Josh into the ground and he could of gone forward, but really, No Rocca, Rusling, Didak and Dick caught up with us.

Proud of the efforts of the team this year, still hurting from tonight so apart from Bryan wont rip into anyone.

Still think we should of Played Wood instead of Bryan

Tonight simply exposed our poor foot skills. It's not like this should come as a shock, it's been a part of the team for a few years. Hopefully our recruiting team will learn the lesson that you do not draft players who cannot kick. And give up on this equally ridiculous notion that you can simply teach players to become good kicks.

We also had too many young, inexperienced players in the one team tonight. We have found a few good players for the future in Anthony, Dawes and McCarthy and maybe Brown, although I am not convinced just yet about him.

I doubt there will be a massive turnover of players. Maybe Lonie will be delisted and R Shaw and Egan put up for trade but i doubt there will be much interest from other clubs. If we were a serious challenger then Bryan, Stanley, Cook,Illes, Cox and Wellingham would probably be in trouble but it's hard to see where adequate replacements are going to come from.

It's also hard to see us picking up the necessary 2 quality midfielders to become a genuine top 4 team next year. So we better get this draft right.

Wood's still raw. Bryan at least has the bigger stronger body that finals require. Tonight we lacked the big seasoned bodies, imagine if we had another undeveloped frame out there, ouch.

I won't hear that we should've played Wood instead. When Bryan and Wood were battling for that number two, Bryan outperformed Wood.

Wood will overtake Bryan, and by some margin, but Bryan was the man to go with tonight.

Woody should be a very good ruckman for us in a year or two, that said.

His kicking was woeful tonight, I couldn't believe it. I normally always rely on him to hit a target, but his game was pretty poor tonight.
Seemed to lack intensity, lost out at the 50/50s when he needed to commit and kicking was as already stated. Still he pulled off some beautiful handballs.

Clearly he had friends out there tonight, and I only focus on him because we have come to expect so much better.

Ryan Cook is a pathetic disposer of the ball, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him moved along this year.
Malthouse was looking for a place to hide him in the second half.

Still, although at the time I was spewing, I'm generally pretty happy with what we have achieved this year. To be honest though, it probably wouldn't have done us any harm to have stayed on that path we looked like heading down towards the end of the year, the one leaving us outside the 8.
An 'earlier' draft pick for once wouldn't have hurt us in the slightest. We have to hope Hine pulls a genuine midfield prospect out of the hat.

God I could only think of how beneficial it would have been if only Joel Selwood had fallen one more draft position.

Fair Enough that we Needed the Bigger Body in Bryan.

You are Correct to say in 2 Season Wood will be so much better than Bryan it will be Incredible

Quick question pie fans.. What position does Dale Thomas play??? He also had a shocker.

Thomas was okay, he has heart. Chases hard, tackles and applies pressure.

It is hard for a flashy type of forward to have a dominate game in a situation where your team kicks like 8 goals for the match.

Medders had one of his worst - sucks he had to end an almighty season like this
Brown can only learn
Davis was very quiet as was Thomas (running around with one shoe for 10 minutes made me smile though)
i thought goldsack did alright

We missed goals tonight that we normally would have kick. Jack Anthony 1.3 you wouldn't dream of it normally. Medhurst's snaps would usually go through as would have Dale's.

Wasn't our night.

Interchange the 8 for the 9...
