Xactly

Those who moan about this deal are gullible sheep who succumbed to media hysteria driven by Collingwood hatred.
Malthouse was a failure in the eyes of the media till we won the Flag now with few coaching positions available he's suddenly become the best thing since Jesus.

You can't expect Collingwood to shaft Bucks and go back on this agreement and expect everyone to stay loyal to the Club.

Lol

Wait I thought this board was negative all the time...

Loyalty does make you lose sight of objectivity my friend :) I mean Hitler's followers were pretty damn loyal too..

Anyway back to topic. I think we cannot under estimate Mick as a coach, that is being disrespectful. We also do not know Buckley's capability as a coach yet. What we do know is the signed contract between three parties in 2009.
I cannot recall anyone who objected to the agreement back then.

So what has changed in people's mind from 2009 and today? It has to be the premiership we won last year and the fact that we are on our way to make another final. Is that it?
Would we be having this debate if the ball had bounced the other way in GF1?

If Rodney Eade was our coach this year would our ladder position would be any different? I don't think so. And i say that with the utmost respect to Mick.
Look at our playing list, our stand alone VFL side, our decision to do pre-season in Arizona. Our decision to recruit Jolly & Ball. Our management of injuries / rehab etc.

As i have stated previously we as a club are traveling beautifully on and off the field. As a supporter i do not have any reason to doubt clubs' decision to have Buckley as head coach next year. I mean why should i have any doubts? They have not given my any reason to do that lately.
What happened to dubber? I used to like him.

mm has created this horrible scenario, why couldnt he just accept the contract and not go public about it. Even if he was considering leaving dont tell the effing media. bucks will be an amazing coach and every player will respect him so much. It wasnt MM who won us the premiership, it was the players the recruiting staff, butters, and the entire coaching staff (Neeld is an EXELLENT assistant coach), and lets not forget our forward line started working so well (forward 50 pess) once buckley took over as the forwards coach.

Imo we lose nothing once MM changes role, after 2 years under him buckley could simple employ the exact same strategys if he wanted too. MM has done collingwood no favors lately after we gave him longer than most clubs would to win a flag.
Players will respect him so much and will be an amazing coach. I'd say the complete opposite occured. Opposite land.

Finally, someone with good solid reasons why we should all fear Buckley taking over from Malthouse. Now lets break it down and address the issue....

so there are quite a few who aren't enthused because of the stated reasons. I presume the others are either enthused or dont care.

He is a hard ass? I looked for a definition online and it was someone who enforces the rules. I suppose you could ask the ex-Melb Buckley how flexible Mick is with his team rules....but I would suggest that Mick is a hard ass too.

He is a perfectionist? Someone who is displeased by anything less than perfect.....hmmmmm.....does this mean that Mick is pleased by mistakes? I dont think Mick says to players that they can forget about a particularly bad game, like a few coaches did this year.

He doesnt have a great deal of time for players that aren't doing enough? Well I think we're all talking about the celebrated "difference of opinions" between Tarrant and Bucks. So Bucks was wrong "not to have a great deal of time" for Tarrant at the time? Well ask Tarrant now.... I think he will tell you who was right and it wasn't Tarrant.

I think Buckley has changed a lot in the last decade. Now if we have evidence of some recent events where Buckley has demonstrated these bad attitudes, I would love to hear about them.

p.s. about the "gratitude to Mick" thing. Two years ago, the team wasnt going that well. It looked like Bucks would go to North. Eddie made a deal to give Mick 3 more tries at the Grand Final...on the basis that he deserved a chance to get the kids to the premiership. Dont tell me, he wasnt cut some slack at the time.
And it's still the reason to this day we are failing.

Still holding this view?

Yes.

Won't back away from those comments that Mick finally recruited to fill flaws think it proves pretty true.

Still think Buckley generally has a very good footy brain.

Not sure of his ability to translate that to the players or if his current game plan suits our group.

Many positives still even in the 2 losses but there are also some glaring flaws that are fixable imo which is what frustrates and causes rants from all.

Nice attempt at trying to dig up some old comments to throw back at me, although not sure it will work to how you intend...;)

In fact I could probably find better examples of me changing my opinion over a 5 year period  because you know people change, learn, get more information over time that can change their perspective. Shocking I know...

Ahh, I miss old Blaze

So famously he sacked him.

Was Didak sacked? not that i'm saying that you should let truth get in the way of a good story...

btw I can't remember what I was thinking when I made that post. I've moved on from trying to deal with the buckley matter in a logical way. I think we need to sack him right now, so i'm in full agreement with you. He just needs to go.
