I would like to know what others think of Buckley's decision to press on with the signed contract.

I feel that it displays an arrogance which could destabilize the club.

I understand that from the outside it is difficult to understand exactly what is going on but from where I stand Buckley's reluctance to delay the takeover process is not a good look.

My thoughts are that he should do the right thing and renegotiate the agreement that was signed 2 years ago. It is the right thing to do.

This is all beginning to stink of FIGJAM.

I disagree, I am happy for the contract to stay the way it is and for Bucks to coach next year, I am sure he will be a great coach and I'm sure he has the backing of the boys. I don't believe everything that is being said in the media and do not think that it's as big an issue to the actual team and people involved as what the media is making it out to be. As much as I love Mick, he is getting on a bit and needs to retire at some stage, what better send off to a great career than with back to backs and for him to leave on a high?
Very very happy with the way things are going. Just a bit sick of the way the media keep trying to speculate that there are issues when clearly, the way we are playing, there are no issues at Collingwood affecting the way we play.

I don't have 1 problem at all with it and wish him all the best. I think he's certainly capable of being a good coach.

I don't understand how you can call yourself a Pies fan and think that way.

I also think that he will be a capable coach.

I know that I will cop a bit for this thread, but sometimes you've got to say it the way you see it.

Sometimes the club makes mistakes. My concern is that this is one of them. Don't get me wrong Mick has made mistakes and I have been both his supporter and his critic.

I believe Buckley is making is first serious mistake now.

cant tell if trolling or just stupid

The only one who has been arrogant has been Mick. Has not once endorsed Buckley as our next coach and has been incredibly bitter.

Buckley has been incredibly classy throughout and has just kept his mouth shut and been the best assistant he could be. All he is doing is working as hard as he can to help us go back to back, which is all he can do.

:thumbsu:Yep!
He's going to make a F--ng brilliant coach! I cannot wait!!!

Buckley signed a contract and he wants to fulfil it. If he baulked he'd be accused of being indecisive by the usual suspects.

I reckon succession plans are a good idea and ours has been executed (so far) as well as it could be in the circumstances.

Malthouse appears desperate to got out as a winner and if he does Buckley will have an extra reason to continue the run of success.

I understand what you are saying, but Buckley has not needed to speak up. He has the piece of paper which is his ticket to the coaching job. All Mick has is a piece of paper which states his expiry date, whilst he is at the peak of his coaching.

Sure he hasn't endorsed him. Why would he endorse another person to take his job, when the whole country knows that he is currently the best man for the job?

Hope so.

Make no mistake. Mick is an incredibly good coach. Probably the best in the league.

Buckley still has allot to learn - and it will take a while for him to establish himself as a coach. But the work ethic is there and won't fail through lack of effort. Just needs a strong group of assistants - which he has. If Mick stays on - willingly. Fantastic. If not then hopefully we can get a Rodney Eade/Paul Roos/ Neil Craig in for that director of coaching role.

You are coming across as a Buckley hater or a rabid Mick fan, either way the club AND the major participants have chosen. As a TRUE Pies barracker I'm happy to allow the participants work it out between them.

And anyone who calls Buckley FIGJAM clearly appears to have a personal dislike for the man which has no place in a club IMHO.

I know what you are saying and you're not wrong.

But if Mick wants to go out the right way he should give Buckley the credit he deserves and give him an endorsement which will allow him to go out the right way - regardless of whether he stays or leaves.
Because lets face it. He is an all time great coach around the league. Class goes a long way towards someones reputation and I think in Mick's case it will be particularly important if he wants to be remembered for the right things. I'd much rather he be remembered as a great coach rather than a bitter old man.

So you call everyone a sheep because they want Bucks as coach next year.

Everyone might not be a sheep but thank god everyone aint like you:thumbsu:

Blind Freddy can see Mick Malthouse is the best their is. Its people like you who cant see fact from fiction because they have have some sort of infatuation and blind obedience with Nathan Buckley.

Your liable to jump off the West Gate because he tells you to.

Bring on Bucks! Mick has been great for the club, but he has had 12 years, and he is OLD. Now is the perfect time to transition to a younger man while the list is strong, the footy dept is strong and the club is strong.

All this MM is at his peak stuff is just BS IMHO. The list is peaking, the list he and the club built over the last 12 years, but he's not peaking, he's OLD.

You mean his decision to uphold his part of the bargain unlike Mick?

Yeah.... how dare he

noone seems to get it. It's working. Perfectly. Next year, no doubt the team will need a refresh, players are already underwhelmed by H&A. New coach is perfect timing

I think the mistake you are making is that you believe this is all of Buckley's making.

It isn't.
The Club went to him and offered him the deal. Buckley is just one third of this equation.

And I can't help thinking of the words of Gary Pert who said last week "Regardless of what people on the outside think, the transition from Malthouse to Buckley will be seamless, there will be barely a ripple in the football department and that includes the players. Collingwood is not built around one person, if it were we would never be in the position we are now"
