Walker, Tip, Hendo

Got the signs of a very good forward line. Three guys that are capable of being the lead forward and drawing the best defender.

Throw in the rotating small forwads, Jaensch, Porps, Knights, Dougie, etc and we could have the leagues best forward line.

The only negative is, pity it was not there in 05/06. Could have four flags right now...........

Bring on 2011 12 13 14 15 etc.

I loved Henderson work on Sunday, he has genuine pace and ran past Melbourne defenders very well. He lacks a bit of polish and his kicking is a little off but I like what I see. Tippett is an absolute weapon and his contested marking will start sending shivers down many spines.

The thought of Knights and Jaensch at half forward gives me hope that we can be the next early 90's Geelong (kicking 200+ scores).

I actually think gunston should and will be the third head of the monster next year. A lot will depend on his preseason and whether he can out on some weight. If he was to somehow put on 10kg from now to march next year he could be the 3rd head. If not Hendo will be until Gunna is ready.

I just think Gunna has more tricks and probably an even better mark. He is a natural footballer, where as Hendo is an athlete with some tricks. Dont get me wrong both have a place in my future team. But I think Gunna will be a more dangerous forward and is probably already more damaging in SANFL than Hendo where size doesnt matter as much. In AFL however Gunna is just too skinny at the moment.

If we cant fit both up forward at the same time, I'd like to try Henderson as the 3rd medium tall defender in the mold of Andy Otten. IMO we havent found an adequate replacement, because like Otten, I think Davis will be moved from that role to become Stevens replacement as swingman. Davis is a KPP and as smart as he is, he's no match for the likes of S Johnson, Motlop, Bate, Medhurst, B johnson etc. Plus we're losing Goodwin who sometimes matches up well on these types when we're struggling for a match up. We also have S.Shaw but depends on whether he'll be ready next year.

So I'd like to try Hendo in that position. Is tall enough at 190cm, is super quick which is essential on these types, can provide run from defense, is good overhead and has a nice vertical leap.

HF Gunston Walker Knights
FF Porps Tippett Jaensch

PS I wonder how many 'Walker's not a CHF' comments I'll get.

Not from me:thumbsu:

Walker needs to roam out at the CHF position to open room in forward 50 for Tipp and the smaller forwards to work. He hasn't taken too many contested marks this year, but doesn't get caught too often and has a great field kick. Plenty of time for him to become the CHF we need.

With him Knighta and Jaensch we have three forwards who can roost it from outside 50 creating a very dangerous HF line. Jaensch is better suited to be out on this line to use his kick in a more damaging way. Think of him and Knights on the flanks thumping it long.:D

Tipp and Porps are locks in the FF line so Hendo or Gunston will battle it out for 3rd tall or rotate out to the wing or allow a resting mid or ruck to fill that 6th position.

Whatever is decided the forward line we now possess is capable of kicking some big scores in the future. If Tipp can work on his conversion and Porps and Knighta can get their bodies right 2011 is looking rosy.

i'm interested is in my Rucci suggested we need another Key Forward? I would have thought our forward line is looking fairly full now especially if you throw Knights and the Big J in.

Yep made no sense to me either..especailly if you add in other possibles like Sellar, McKernan and Talia. Why would we be looking for a "ready made" forward (of which there are very few) when we've got Tippett and Walker coming along nicely and others in the background?
