The club is taking the issue seriously but it seems unlikely to jeopardise his contract talks.

On the Jake Kind Matter.. So i don't think anything is going to happen..

We are nothing to the sports writers at the moment.

Nothing bad going on in regards to behind the scenes but nothing happening on the football field either.

Looks like they are just trying to keep up a quota of Richmond articles and have grabbed a meaningless quote and put obvious facts around it.

We are just existing in the competition this year without really offering anything to the competition as a whole.

Should have a crack at either of these ruckmen;

Dawson Simpson
Trent West
Zac Clarke

Geelong would not be able to keep so many ruckmen on their list hence the reason why I suggested these two, and they would be cheaper then say a Mitch Clark from Brisbane.

Who are you expecting to be available via the PSD? Mark Blake is an obvious one, but we don't want him, surely!

The idea is to try and lure someone worthwhile to nominate for the PSD. They would have to be out of contract, I'm not sure who falls in to that category. Then you basically offer them the prospect of being a no.1 ruck, job security (three year contract) and a few extra dollars. Once their club realises they are serious about moving, they will try and arrange a trade, but with the danger of losing them to the PSD for nothing, we would have the bargaining power. Same deal as Houli and Grigg last year.

Anyone know the contract status of the various rucks around the place? :)

Speak to a geelong or freo supporter and they all seem to think that simpson/clarke are worth 1st rounders.

West is sneaking under the radar a bit. I don't rate him that highly but he is decent and would come cheaper than the other 2. He is a little short but he can play up forward a bit and rotate with Vickery if needed, unlike our current batch of rucks.

Same three for me, but in priority order of Clarke, Simpson, West.
That said, I would not be dissapointed to land any of them, all are an upgrade on what we are currently playing.
Clarke will clearly be the most difficult to move, but in such a shallow drafting year I believe we should go all out on securing him. If unattainable then go hard on one of the other two.

P1. GWS..... They will probably get a Ruck during Trade week or for an under 17 pick
P2. GC.... Look to have their ruck spots covered unless Fraser decides to retire.
P.3 Port.... Will be looking for a Ruckman also.
P.4 Bris...... Have a few rucks and might pick up one of Freo's Rucks for Mitch Clarke
P.5 Richmond....

It wouldn't be impossible to get a ruckman to commit to the PSD, although Port would also be after one I would think.

I would be happy with a second tier Ruckman that would cost us not much and wait for free agency to get an elite Ruck if required.

3rd round pick for blake is the way to go 1st and second on mids, blake is abetter tap ruck than those mentioned here .

I think I'd vomit. We could draft him as a mature rookie as no other club would take him.

In regards to contract status. Zac Clarke till end of 2013 so could maybe trade Foley but still probably wouldn;t get it done. Dawson Simpson might be out of contract. Hampson is as well. And Max Gawn is out of contract also.

Trent West lost the hitouts to Gus so is hardly what we need.

Tom Nicholls from GC?? Plus we would need a stop gap to play the next couple of years.

I said earlier this year we should look at Zac Clarke but we have no chance now. He was struggling in the WAFL and would have been the perfect lure to come back to Victoria, unfortunately Sandilands got injured and they threw a life line at Zac and havent looked back.

1st and second on mids

We're the shortest shortest team in the league and our backline leaks goals like a sieve.

I know the club's going to go ahead and do it anyway, but we desperately need to look at other options than our stock standard midget midfield drafting.

Should hopefully get someone like Kavanagh who is 187cm as a mid. These are the players we need.

I agree we need mids who are 185cm and above. I know it is a very basic way of looking at things but teams that are bigger are generally more sucessful. Gee even at local footy level you know when you rock up and you are playing on blokes with a few inches on you that they have a strength advantage.

Elliot Kavanagh, Dom Tyson and Grigg are three that would be good options imo. All are clearance winners who can also damage on the outside. Only problem is I don't think any of them will last to 10...

Looks like u guys need a vfl grade ruckman 22-24 who is ready to go and does not need 5 years of development or loss of draft pick. Unless you can get someone like Cox, Mac, Goldie, Nat in the draft, i suggest you get a vfl ruckman who has experience and is physically developed and ready to go.

We did that last year with Derickx, albeit from the WAFL, but he has been injury prone and hasn't played enough to gauge whether he has what it takes.
I think we need something a lot better than a VFL grade ruckman.

The problem is what we have to give up. Wouldn't mind trying to push Dawson Simpson into PSD stating he wants to stay in Vic as we are the first Vic team or trade for 3rd/4th rounder by using that threat. Maybe trade for a Tom Nicholls (3rd string GC ruck) for the future. Or even trade Foley for either Zac Clarke or the 17yo pick for Brodie Grundy.

He did on the day by 11 (28-17, hardly match winning numbers by either ruckman. Same round top three were Mumford 45, Cox 42 and Goldstein 42), but importantly he beat Gus around the ground, which is where we are lacking a lot of accountability by both our current ruckman. He had more disposals, more marks, double the tackle count (6-3), 3 more Inside 50's and kicked 2 goals to Gus's zero.
Gus also has almost double the amount of AFL experience (46-24 games).

For me it's still Z.Clarke, D.Simpson and then T.West in order of preference, but I still believe West would be a good third option.

To back up what Tugga says here, Browne is a pretty good ruckman at VFL level, but struggles to have an impact at AFL. Same could probably be said of Graham

i vomit every week when i see gus and browne trying to ruck and blake might make me sick at times too but at least he will give us a good account at actual ruckwork so if hes cheap we dont hav to waste a 2nd rounder on a developing ruck that wont ruck as well in the next few years any way.
