Whilst Everitt made some mistakes on the weekend, there is an upside to him in that he is tall & athletic and has suffered injuries which have derailed his progression. He has obvious talent

Tiller, however, is not in the same catagory his decision making is poor,
does not have clean hands, when he spoils he takes a teammate out of the contest and doesn't man up when the opposition has the ball.

In fact, in my humble opinion, there is no place for him in the side at all.

Please Rocket don't play him.

Can't agree with you. He has played some good games in the backline for us including a good game in a final. Well worth sticking with.

I love him back there

Attacks the ball and now he has a bit of confidence in himself tends to win it most times.

I think Steve is a revelation.

And I notice Morris - Lake - Gilbee - Hargrave....just getting on more with getting their personal jobs done since Tiller and Tim Callan/Dylan Addison are holding down their personal jobs in the back-line.

Andrej's Everitt.....still getting there as a substitute giving those 6 a rest in my opinion.

Tom Williams ...likewise as per Everitt, but because both are good beneath their knees they can also get a run down forward.

But it was windy at Subiaco on Sunday, so neither probably got a good spell in attack.

Tiller is a fantastic backman. Has really proved to everyone that he has got what it takes. I use to under-rate him but now i think different of him. He played well against Freo and the last few games of 2008. Just needs to work on his skills more and he's set.

I think he has a fair way to go but he is improving all the time. He provides some additional versatility and is therefore worth developing. Not anchored in our best 22 yet but he definitely has something.

also think he has a fair way to go. no doubt about his commitment and body-wise he is just what we need at the dogs, however...

I do have some doubts on his talent.

Having said this the Bulldogs backline doesn't have an envious job due to our style of play so it can't be an easy place to learn at the moment.

Its funny how finals can make you change your perception of a player. Before last years finals, I probably ranked Tiller alongside Cam Wight. Tries hard but lacks skills and composure under pressure.

But since his excellent two finals games that he played, my rating of him has really jumped. He was superb in the finals. His skills arn't yet that of a gun player but he is definately worth persevering with IMO.

Funnily enough the exact opposite happened to Farren Ray. I was one of his biggest defenders on here all last year until the Hawthorn final. After that game, my confidence in him was totally lost.

Get yourself a copy of last years finals series and give it a watch then repost

I think you should have a good look yourself at the Prelim final....
1):- handballed directly to Steve Johnson : who goaled
2):- Kicked into the man on the mark fortunately the turnover only resulted in a point......

No good under pressure

I don't doubt his endeavour, just his ability

snagboy, snagboy, snagboy, its bad enough when outsiders who know little about our club and players, get on and make uneducated comments......................mate , really. if you knew the players history, you'd know he carried injuries in his early years, started to string a few games together last year, and had an exceptional finals series for a player with so little games.watch out when he gains a bit of confidence .barring injury this bloke is cemented in this side. good luck to him, he deserves it.............now stop eating so many sausages and actually watch what players do !

Ok guys he is no good under pressure and doesn't know how to spoil.

Tell me this though.

Go back and look at every game he has played.

Has he yet been destroyed apart from his opponent ?

I suggest you stop listening to the radio, and what commentators may say & actually watch the game.

Sadly for us as supporters he won't make the grade.

I reckon you've dug yourself in to a hole now.

Nobody here is suggesting he's the next Chris Grant but to down right say he won't make it after a what was a pretty good game is just delusional(and 17 senior games!). Just goes to show people love to bitch about anything. It's the absolute last thing clubs need when it comes to supporters. There were a few 'okish' players that played for Sydney/West Coast when they won flags. They just need to do their job and to be honest, I've never seen Tiller easily beaten and if he has been it must have been a one off.

Bah

I'm not opening this thread again and I suggest it gets locked under the 'Yea, your welcome to your opinion but your still just a ********' rule.

Tiller may not be everyone's cup of tea, but his role as a swingman adds versatility to our squad. Eventually he may be competing with Everitt for a permanent spot. Not sure if he is in best 22 (yet) but must be 23/24 at worst. Again, it reveals our excellent depth when folks in here are throwing around names like Hill, Addison, Ward et al to be dropped after ONE game, which we WON BY 10 GOALS!!!

Every doggies supporter knows Tiller will never reach superstar status, but what he brings to the side is ideal for what we are trying to achieve.
He is hard at it and always gives 110%, what he lacks in talent he makes up for in endeavour.
I hope he is in our side all year, cos he has the ability to shut down his opponent through his hardness and allows our more creative defenders do what they do best.
I can never question this blokes intent and that's what makes him so valuable. There is no point having a team of superstars if the 2nd tier players let the rest down, this bloke compliments the exquisite silky skills of Griff, Higgo and Gilbee with uncompromising effort.

I am a Tiller fan. I thought he showed a bit in his first few senior games as a leading forward and has progressed very well into a workmanlike, running defender.

His best attributes are his toughness at the contest, he is a physical player at ground level and in the air. That is a huge plus for a team that can have massive lapses in defensive pressure. Skills are OK, on the run his kicking is pretty good but the decision making has been por at times (see v Sydney H&A 2008), not bad enough to write him off though as his finals and round performance suggest that he has been working on improving that aspect.

I think we'll be a better side if he can stake a place in the 22 on a regular basis. An in form Tiller frees up our better players in the back half to run and carry through the zones and provides some value as a utility off the bench. Fans love a guy who is committed to the "1% percenters" just as much as a Griffen like star and all going to plan Tiller will have some sort of status as a favourite by the end of 2009.

Pathetic post.
Since Tiller has been swung to the backline, he has provided a contest and has improved every game - that's all you can ask for. I would say that he has beaten or drawn with his opponents more than half the time as well.

He is never going to be the quality of Lake or Morris, but he is more than capable playing as our 3rd of 4th defender. He is a hard nut, and his decision making is nowhere near as bad as what you make it out to be.
