GoodFootyNorth
Team Captain
Like everyone I have been dismayed to see the group of former directors - Andrew Carter, Mark Dawson, Peter Johnstone and Kerry Good (the Gang of Four) – refuse to hand back their shares, thereby threatening so much of our club’s revival under JB and Eugene.
I suggest that it’s time for some supporter action at North’s next home game (or next game in Melbourne) to raise awareness of the issue and put some pressure on them. This kind of supporter demonstration is quite common in the English Premier League.
I was thinking of some kind of simple action at quarter or half time of a game (a chant, some booing, unfurling banners and/or holding up membership cards to show who should control this club). Bigfooty folks could congregate in one area to get things going, and we could ask the cheersquad to help out. We could hand out leaflets outside the game to get supporters involved. If we could get some prominent shinboners (I’m thinking Arch, Tim Rogers) to join, it could get some media attention.
In fact, given that the club administration would not oppose the action, they might provide some kind of tacit support. We could even ask opposition supporters to join in (our next two games in Melbourne are Footscray and Geelong I think, whose supporters would likely be sympathetic).
As you can see from my location, I can’t be there to help – I’m just suggesting this idea. We have some time to get organised before our next game. Of course, it’s possible that by the time of our next game, the problem will be resolved – but if not, we should do something to put some pressure on the bastards.
Thoughts?
