I would normally say give the kid a couple of chances (not 1 game and not down back)

Personally I would prefer to bring an extra utility or midfielder into the team but let's evaluate the talls he could replace:

Plowman - career best form and can play small - Jaksch not better
Marchbank - great positioning, intercepts, needs to work on field kicking, better than Jaksch and will get better
Williamson - playing as a utility back - in the team for his kicking - Jaksch not going to be able to do this job
White - playing as utility back, couldn't do this job but maybe replace if they wanted an extra tall forward
Macreadie - not sure Jaksch is answer down back, maybe if they rest Macreadie at some point and they wanted an extra tall forward
Rowe - not as the key KPD but maybe if they wanted more mobility down back and wanted Weitering back and then I could see him preferred over Rowe up forward

Kreuzer - nope he can't do his job and Kreuzer is in good form

Weitering - not kicking goals lately but is providing contest and link up as CHF - not likely
Silvagni - hitting form - and imagine he has another gear - Jaksch would not rate higher
Casboult - starting to present well, taking grabs again, 2nd ruck - Jaksch not rated higher
C Curnow - give this kid 10-20 games and I could see him being the xfactor forward that can create mismatches forward and pinch hit in the middle - for our long term benefit - no

I have very low expectations for Jaksch. I don't think he has the drive to add value in our defensive structure. He has a good peg and can take a grab, so up forward I think is his only chance. To me the only way he plays up forward is if we have injuries or the MC change the setup:
1 cut the Talls down back, add an extra tall in the forward line and Charlie plays more thru middle
2 play Weitering down back - forcing a tall out down back

Team is too tall and / or lacks sufficient run as it is.

Can't use him to replace a midfielder / runner.

Can only replace a tall and I think Hyphens' assessment is spot on.

Perhaps gets a run if we rest Jack or if he is injured.

Or perhaps if we have both Kreuzer and Phillips playing, and Casboult is out and for some reason McKay also doesn't play.

I can see him coming in for macreadie who injured his calf/needs a rest. Weitering and Jaksch can then rotate forward and back when necessary. White could also come out or Charlie could miss if he continues the way he's been playing. Plenty of options for those above that are saying he doesn't replace anyone.

I'm not bothered either way. If he gets a chance it will be because he has fulfilled the demands of the coach and the MC. I think he's been a huge disappointment and can only blame himself for his predicament. Footballers are judged by more than what they achieve on game day. I suspect he has been average on a number of fronts.

For those saying he's had his chance, he's only played 7 games for Carlton. To put that in context, he's played 2 less games than Charlie Curnow and only 3 more than SPP and Macreadie. I'd hardly say that's a fair go, especially when the majority of those games were all under Malthouse.

Charlie's stats are slightly better career wise but they are pretty similar! Both are number 12 picks and KPF yet Jaksch isn't afforded the same opportunity to impress as other young players. I'm not saying he's going to be fantastic but it seems like he isn't getting a fair go. It would be great if he was given a minimum 4 game run at some point this year so he can have a proper go at it and we can either put a line through him or keep hoping he's the messiah!
