We have had our glory in the sun. It's time to do half a dozen changes each week and blood youth. We have seen what the current players can do and it's time to get games into Post, Gourdis, Contin, Hicks, Taylor, Morton, Browne, Rance etc. and unearth some more gems. I'm not saying tank. I'm saying try to win and impliment the gameplan but give other youngsters a go. Get some games into the ****ers.

This should see us finish around 15th-16th I reckon and net us Pick 4 or Pick 6 (willing to be corrected). We could do with an extra potential elite midfielder. Basically we have every position on the ground covered however we are not good enough. We need to upgrade players. Time to put the cue in the rack.

Agreed. Can't see us winning too many more anyways. The pick is important.

sorry lads, pick 4 or 6 is ours.We wont win a game for the rest of the year and you should win a couple from here atleast (u still have to play us).We are plain shyte.IMO bummers and melbourne should finish below your mob too.
You should probably get atleast one more win so dont get to far ahead of yourself.

Its going to be interesting the last 6 weeks, I reckon we'll win at least 2 more coming from Blues/Dees/Port. I don't see us getting near the Pies Saints or Crows though. That will see us with 7 wins and 13th spot by my guesses on the predictor. I don't think we need to put the cue in the rack so to speak as its obvious we're not good enough to do any better than that. The fact is we should be proud of the improvement that has been shown since the start of the season and hope that we can finish off the season on a good note, rather than just fall in a heap and go back to being belted week after week.

I would also like to see some of the young players come in like Taylor, Post, Gourdis and even give Morton a go.

I think we should at least win 2 more games. But the main focus should be on player development, and improving the gameplan.

I've got you guys down for two more wins, against the Eagles and Dees.

Not too many changes against collingwood. It could be a massacre.

WTF? We play Collingwood next week. At least wait until after that game to start this kind of thread.

Edit: re-read the OP. I agree we need to get a few games into the untried players but that is going to happen anyway with some young players getting rested due to tiredness and injury... I think the thread title is a bit misleading.. a pro-tanker might get the wrong idea.

Agreed. the players have had a taste of victory, and now had it taken away by a bunch of scrubbers who's supporters don't even show up for.

But this is all part of the learning curve for them. even players like Newman and Lids, even perhaps Cousins learn from these games... The biggest disappointment today is that there were no positives from the game to take away.

Just hoping Collingwood dont smash the cue over thier leg over and over again to the point where our confidence is that of playing pool with a toothpick.

Damn this weekend for killing my confidence against the SCUM. How the hell am I meant to take my free ticket to next week from a Collingwood pal.

Don't mind others being given a go , but please let's not lose some sort of team balance as a result of it , the practice , or thought , of two or more of Nason , Hicks , Nahas, Webberly or White should be trashed for starters !!
Why did you put Webberley in there? he is a midfielder.

If results go the way you could reasonably expect towards the end of the year (and we don't beat Melbourne) then things might get very interesting in our last game against Port.

Depending on how keen both teams are to get to the front of the draft queue, we might see some interesting selections and moves on game day.

Yeah. I did a ladder predictor and had us 14th if we beat Port in round 22 (pick 8), last if we lose to Port (pick 4).

I certainly think Taylor, Hicks, Gourdis, Post, Browne, etc should all be getting a go as the year goes on even if they aren't demanding selection. Getting some games into these kids won't do us any harm. Call it tanking, experiment, development, whatever you want.

I actually think it's not that bad a thing that Cotchin got reported yesterday. Will get weeks but to me it looks like he needs a rest anyways, he was labouring. With Jackson also out and Foley injured it will test our depth and tell us more about our list. Even the most one-eyed supporters would say we have been very lucky with injury this year and often facing teams with a fair few of their best 22 out (Freo other week for example, Brisbane, etc).

Also I think DH stated awhile back Martin would get another rest before the season is out and I like that idea, he's playing a big inside role at the moment and he's still only 18.

You're starting to make too much sense Barnzy. Agree with all of that. Oh the shame;)

Haha, agree there Tugga.

Actually, I enjoyed that post barnzy :thumbsu:

Totally agree that those young guys need to be tried. Some of them will continue to be trialled next year also. The fact is, DH said from Rd 1 that is exactly what we'll be doing this year, and possibly next, so it's hardly tanking. But, regardless of who we play, there will be games where we are in it up to our eyeballs, and I'm confident we will be forging for the win, which I think is great. Some people have a different opinion, and that's their right.

In another thread, it was mentioned that Greg March stated Cotch was only 50/50 going in to the Kangas game. So yeah, don't be surprised to see him having a rest this week, regardless. And yes, our depth will be tested, and will likely be shown up. Don't think many would disagree we lack quality depth.
