Hey,
Just wondering if u feel Kevin Sheedy has been at Windy Hill to long.
He's been a great coach (the best we have ever had in my opinion)
But to me it feels like our boys are becoming a bit 2 complacent.
Maybe it's time we have a fresh face in the coaches box.
In my opinion it would be a sad day if Sheeds was 2 leave the Dons, but what are your thoughts?
Is Sheedy's time almost up?

As long as we see finals action, Ill be content for next season...anything more would be a bonus. Porbably wont reach any lofty heights till around 09/10 if I were to guess. Would love to have a future on that one though.

I think 07 will be his last season. He'll retire with Hird.
wouldnt that be a spectacle, hird and sheedy to play and coach their last game together. that would be a great match to see but also a very sad one.

So it all comes down to 2007 & this years draft.
If we get a few young kids & go well in 2007, i think Sheeds will be safe.

Regardless of where we finish next year, I don't think Sheedy will finish off being sacked. The club and supporters surely wouldn't want him to go out like that after all he's done for this club.

IMO he'll retire at the end of 07 and G'OD will be appointed as his replacement.

G'OD doesn't want to coach at senior level, not yet anyway, there are better candidates

if he does retire after the 2007 season, i say we try and get mark harvey back, im sure that he would jump at the job

i think he would too, as long as the club interviews all the top assistants i'll be happy, I wouldn't mind someone from outside the club or a non Essendon player, having said that Neale Daniher may also be in the mix

No it isn't time.Look,if it wasn't for LLoyd going down and if a few results in our games had gone different we would/could have had a great year.
Sheedy is the Sir Alex Fergerson of the AFL.No other coach has more experience than him and he knows Essendon like no other person alive. He has one year left on his contract,so just let the poor man do his job and we will see where we are this time next season.

If it looks like he has lost touch,Harvs will be primed to go and slot straight in as new coach.Either way,we as fans win!.......or does someone want to sack sheeds now and get....Cris Bond,Longmire,Mckenna...no thanks.

no one is implying that we should sack sheedy, we are all just discusing will he step down after his contract ends and who would take his place.

I reckon he will continue even if Essendon have a bad year.
He always said that he wouldn't leave Essendon while we were down & out.
He has Essendon blood in his veins.
Go on sheeds!

I agree with what your saying,
But Sheeds has done so much for the Bombers that the board may leave it to him to decide if he wants to leave.
If he continues having bad years, they will have no choice but to ask him to step down.
I believe this year though, we will be on the rise & give top 8 clubs a scare.

What would be a pass mark for Sheeds next season?

For mine, Position - 9th
Wins - 8

Maybe to finish just inside or outside the 8.
If we finish outside it would have to be about 9-10th to be considered safe.

GET THORNTON

Glad someone else brought Sheedys' tenure up for a change. H'es looking a bit weary these days. Hope he gets through the drafts. He's on notice according to Jackson, and needs a flurry of wins from round 8. Needs AFL endorsed viagara to have any hope of an extension.

GET PYKE

Sheedy has said that he will keep coaching so I doubt that the end of 2007 will see him retire. If his contract is not renewed - and let's face it, if there is not a stellar improvement it won't be - he will seek to coach another side. It is frightening to think that by then, Carleton might be just about ready to sack Pagan and move on. That for me would be a nightmare scenario: A Sheedy-coached Carleton premiership!
