Tip Off

Pardon my ignorance but watching the NBA finals the other day I noticed that at the start of each quarter there was no tip off. Just 1 team inbounding from the other end of the floor.
Can anyone please explain how long this has been going on? Is it just a NBA thing? Did I see correctly?

they tip off at the start of the match and the start of the 3rd quarter.you might have seen it at the start of the 2nd and 4th quarters and got it confused possibly?

actually you were right they just inbounded at the start of the 3rd quarter.Im not sure what the go is either

anyone know?

1st qtr tip off, team A gets the ball.
2nd qtr team B inbounds
3rd qtr team A inbounds
4th qtr team B inbounds
