Can't even compare Ablett to Tippett IMO. While I would guess the money had a lot to do with his move to GC, he had also done absolutely everything he possibly could as a footballer at Geelong (Premierships, Brownlow, Club Champion, Coaches Medals, Players Medal etc... etc...) and probably wanted a new challenge.

After Kurt hinting that he's been homsick and wants to go home for ages, he's just stamped himself as an absolute mercenary with his decision to go to the Swans. I have huge respect for them as a team, but really, really hope they don't win another flag while this flog is playing for them.

What is this myth about Sydney always being fair when they trade?

When have they actually invested heavily to acquire a player? It's always been virtual discards from other clubs.

I think this could be the beginning of the end for them. Million dollar acquisitions change the dynamic of a club. Hard to tell folks it's all about sacrificing for the team when you're spending millions of dollars to steal away one player.

I know Grundy, but not much about him. What's his playing style? Sydney's first round pick isn't exactly a great one. However, it'd be good if we can trade them our second round pick (around 40ish?) for their pick 23.

Imagine if the players just said "Nup, don't want this spud" Sydney would have to back down, probably by offering a rubbish trade and then Tippetts manager would try and talk to the lions or Us, he would likely be shown the door and a swift kick in the a**

then he would come cap in hand back to the Crows to say "hey boys how u doing, you know Kurt really loves Adelaide and for $800,000 he would gladly pull on the old No4, wadda ya say" no hard feelings

It is disappointing that he has decided on Sydney for money. I really struggle to see any players of great trade value on the Swans list. This will definetly have to be a multiple club trade. I am also struggling to see how Sam Reid and Kurt Tippett play in the same forward line as they remind me of one another and play similar position up forward.

Reid might be a tradeable player. hopefully to a Victorian club that can offer the crows something decent in return. I'm hoping Melbourne who appear to want to get involved in every trade possible this offseason. They have pick 13 and some good young players of interest (Tapscott, Lucas Cook), all hypothetical of course.

Sydney board seem to have agreement from the Sydney players who also don't beleive Tippett is worth anywhere near what he has been offered.

Add to this sydney, unlike their fans, are not stupid. They will have plenty of time to plan this and just as much time to sign Kennedy.

They have plenty to offer and would not have gone this far without being prepared....its not like they are relying on go home factor. They have enticed him away from home, they wont let him slip now to PSD as they will lose him.

Kennedy back to Hawks then maybe Roughy to us.

Why can't Adelaide deal with GWS...eg Giles and a player like Tyson(actually don't care who for this example) or another player as well to clear space for Tippetts demand.
Tell Tippett's manager and Sydney he can go in the preseason draft as GWS will have the room in their cap to take him unless a deal fair deal is made.

If Sydney don't play ball he goes into the preseason draft. Adelaide will deliver Tippett to the GWS by completing the trades required to free up his salary demands and we at least get a promising junior or two and Giles out of it.
Tippett gets his wish to play in Sydney ....Western Sydney and GWS gets a KKP centre half forward and cut down their player numbers which they need to do.

GWS can't just rely on Tippett coming to them for nothing in the PSD as they need to make player trades to free up salary cap adjustments so they can match Tippett's offer sheet.They can only do this by dealing with Adelaide as they are the only club that can let him pass through to the PSD.

If Sydney come to the table and deals fairly because of this threat then Adelaide owes GWS some sort of compensation for helping the bargaining process.
It may cost Adelaide something in compensation but it sends a message to other clubs that we are prepared to play hardball on occasions.
Of course GWS must want Tippett and be prepared to move players and those players want to come.
1.Could this strategy actually work?
2.Could just the threat of this scenario bring action.
3. If GWS matches Tippett's offer sheet does he have to go to them under the same deal he signed with Sydney.

This might be a ridiculous idea, I'm trying very hard to think outside the box at this moment in time.
I'm just putting it out there for discussion.
