Parker goes hard at it. Broke his jaw early in the season. Would be front of Lyons in our team.
On reputation maybe but he isn't significantly better. Would be a similar situation to Otten vs Shaw at the start of the year, both had ability but one (Otten) had banked up enough game time to get first crack in the early games (before injury etc.)

Man, if we could get a first round pick for McKernan I'd absolutely take it and run. Assuming it's a decent first round pick, say around 12 or so. Actually I'd pretty much take any first round pick for him. I just don't see what everyone else seems to with McKernan.

It wouldn't make up for losing Tippett for practically nothing, but it would still be an enormous win in my book :thumbsu:
 Thank go you're not in list management .......we lose one tall in Tippett, now you want to get rid of another on the back of losing Bock & Davis .......and for young untried kids via draft picks

Are you mad or something~!!!

Exactly which year in the future would you like to challenge for a flag ......or you just happy to keep getting rid of talls for kids with 3 years of development in front of them

.............sorry you've probably factored in White replacing McKernan as our backup ruckman ??

Honestly, there is no inside information, it's just some connecting of the dots with a commercial approach rather than an emotional response.

Sydney just won a flag. The is no doubt that their performance this year would have triggered a number of performance clauses in their players' contracts. They will receive some relief from veteran listings and front-ended deals but they will be working in a very tight space. They need to off-load a player or two to free up the room for Tippett but they also want to keep their list structure. If the reports are true (that is, White has a year to go and is on around $300k) then White is the perfect player to trade out. He's a like-for-like with Tippett and frees up enough to bring Tippett in.

Now, the other option for Sydney is to pick Tippett up in the PSD. There are two issues here, they need price out GWS and they also need to find the salary cap space. It's likely that they would de-list White and terminate his contract. This would mean that Sydney would have to find $300k plus any termination penalties out of the already cash-strapped football department's budget (see Colless email).

The Crows would be aware of these factors. They know Sydney, despite the bravado, are operating within some pretty tight margins.

White has become more palatable for the Crows, particularly if they have a taker for McKernan, who it is well known is homesick. White can be the depth coverage for Jenkins... but there has to be more on the table. I just couldn't see the Crows wanting to strengthen a rival by providing them with a key-forward and taking a financial liability off their hands without adequate compensation. That compensation isn't pick 22. There has to be more.

Further, there is no way the Crows would have gone this deep into the draft (knowing Sydney's PSD issue) if White and 22 was all that was on the table from Sydney. They'd be selling Tippett to GWS, Carlton and anyone else and telling those clubs to go convince Tippett. There would be much more media and interest from other clubs than there currently is.

I'm tipping the Knights compo is the sweetner that Sydney need to save a bit of face when they offer up a name player like Rohan, Parker, Jetta or Lamb.

Except the Knights compo pick is likely to be a bowl of homebrand cornflakes and half a cup of skim milk. The yucky uht stuff.

When White was first drafted to the Swans he was first trained and played as a defender, He wasn't that bad actually... It was just when we tried him up forward in a reserves match and he kicked 7 goals that our plans were changed.

And it is a role that we have actively spoken about him trying on the Swan's board, And something I think his athleticism would be better suited for (You would need to work on his concentration though).

It appears as if your club has been really harshly done by over the last few years (And I doubt you will find any true AFL fan who doesn't agree with that), But look at your recent recruitment and drafting... It has really been second to none. Knowing your recruitment team I am expecting you to really pull out a gem at 22 or 23 (whatever the pick is).

I really hope you make something out of Johnston and White, Both players really have the potential in spades.

Whoa!!! Hold it right there!!

Where did this extra player Johnston come from?

Do you mean Alex Johnson?? He's the only Johnson/Johnston on your list. There's been no mention of him being part of the deal.

Is there anything in this or is this just a ****-up on your part?

LOL, this week is really starting to play tricks on the mind...

Interesting that Rowe reckons that this would be ugly and it would all blow up and Stephen Trigg has chosen now to be overseas and incommunicado. Did he choose to skip town and try and avoid being spattered by this mess while knowing how it would pan out?

This post made me happy, real happy!

Maybe we're looking at this all wrong, were all thinking that white is all there willing to offer but it's actually white is a necessity for them!

yeah, just saw it on channel 7 news. they showed him arrive at the airport, get into a car and walk into westlakes. no doubt it was him. the newscaster was like, "initially adelaide were not happy with having white but are now warming up to the idea". :(
That's rubbish IMO ......you can't "warm" to a player in a couple of weeks UNLESS another trade fell through an White's a fall back

I am still of opinion White should be a separate deal to Tippett for a 3rd round pick ......particularly if by freeing up salary helps get Tippett to not back end contract in case they have to go to the PSD

Surely we could have not done more to hurt Adelaide's interests .......and gift wrap Tippett and another flag to Sydney

What value does Parker have? A pick around 20? How about a trade like this, working off speculation in the last few pages.

Sydney gain: Tippett, Adelaide Third (or second) rounder; lose: Parker, White, 22

Carlton gain: McKernan, Parker; lose: 11

Adelaide gain: 11, 22, White; lose: McKernan, Tippett, third (or second) rounder.

I say second rounder as we won't use it anyway.

No way. The most ridiculous thing I ever read was that Kurt's decision would have nothing to do with money.
Just saying

Yes, in hindsight that is certainly ridiculous but at the time, that's the song he was singing to anyone who'd listen, but not nearly as ridiculous as an imaginary deal that is worth diddly squat.
