id say the wing would be good. it really depends which tiva is out there. he is so hot and cold. last year i forgot he was playing alot of the time. hope this year he shows his best

i'd really love if tivvers could become like a rohan smith or stewy dew. someone capable of running with the ball and kicking a long goal which inspires the team and gets the crowd going.

Tivers is sort of an inbetween of smith and dew really. he is too inconsistent though, especially compared to smith. smith is great running out of defence, while dew is very goal smart and effecient. tivers has got run, but i'm not sure he could deal with playing out of defence. and he is a very good long kick at goal, but certainly not in dews class with it. Tiva's just doesn't seem to get as many chances as dew. which is combination of less team created chances, and less around the goal / offensive awareness. its about time maybe we bit the bullet and just flat out tried to develop him as one of these things, and if that doesn't work out - well we better talk. i think too many players on our team haven't really ever made a position there's. i sometimes have trouble pinpointing where Newman should play too. he has been played everywhere. Danny must have sucked at jigsaws i reckon...lol

In 2004 sure. In years past he was very good on the wing/HFF.

do you sometimes think that richmond have in the past tried to turn to many of their good flank players into centre men? and in doing so, have lost a good flanker, and gained an average centre man? is it unrealistic to let someone play the majority of their career on a flank? or even the pockets?

Yes, happens all the time, Nick Daffy was a good example. I think the same will happen with Krakouer.

He looks a much finer player reciving when Cogs is extracting the pill from packs.

Agreed, and that's why he went missing so badly last year, nobody to win the ball for him. There's definitely a place for him as long as we have enough players capable of winning the ball, he is one of the most damaging players on the run in the league (although I'd like to see him better on his right).

my thoughts exactly with both players. i actually think we did the opposite with rodan. he started out great in the middle, such clean hands! I still remember him getting up straight back into the game in the anset cup grand final in 2002 - came on, went in the middle and turned the game in 10 minutes. then we started playing him up forward, down back, on the wing WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU PLAY RODAN IN DEFENCE!?!?!
papa smurf could out mark him, not his fault - he is just so damned short! then he lost his game because he didnt know what he was meant to be doing, and couldnt get it back. Sounds like wallace has him believing himself again and hopefully he can be saved. great leadership in that little fella IMO

Yep, seeing Rodan in defence gave me the same bad feeling I got everytime I saw Gaspar moved forward, a loss was inevitable.

We've also got guys like Newman and Hartigan who want to be in the midfield. It's great to have 14 guys out there that can rotate through the middle (see Geelong), but we need to make sure we have enough specialist forwards and defenders, and also that we are playing people where they will be most effective.

Can really only see him on a HFF / wing at best. Opposition teams know to cramp him up on his left now, and his defensive skills (not that I can remember seeing any), aren't the greatest. He'll need to run hard and deliver quickly into the forward line. Agree with the sentiments this is his make or break year.

He has/had an overinflated opinion of his skills/abilities.

If the new regime can work on those skills he could be a very damaging player. He needs to kick more goals. 9 last year was very poor. 20+ should be a more like it. Also his free kick ratio is poor. 1.43 ( given away for every one he gets) There is no reason why someone with his gamestyle should give away more frees than he gets.

He hasn't missed a game this century !!! Currently 117 on the trot.

I hope he plays well and is around for a while. Just love those running left foot goals from 50. Hope he can do it again soon.

No question his left foot is his strength, our best kick at hitting target over a long distance. Seems to have struggled in games where he has had a tight checking opponent put on him, has to overcome this if he wants to be more consistent. Should also be the guy who leads the team in handballs received.

Back in 2001 when he was just starting to make a name for himself he did some reasonable run with roles, could possibly use him like that again if he starts struggling for form during the year.
