Did nt see the game today on TV on listen to it just wondering how these guys went

JON
Cleve
King
Howat
McGuane
Pattison

thanks

Howat was ok ... the rest had poor days ... unfortunately it happens with young players

JON - Should be dropped this week, no position for him at the moment
Cleve - Thurstans kept him quiet, but the way the ball was put into our F50 it was hard for him
King - Best game for the club
Howat - All the pre-season hype about his work ethic was on show today, skills need work
McGuane - Started up forward, then down back, didn't do much
Pattison - Was very good IMO :thumbsu: Took some great contested marks

he took 2 dude. And he also dominated the ruck contests by the new dimension in ruck play that he has brought to the game. Its to jump up for the ball before the umpire has bounced it.;)

Literally didn't have aman for the first half. Was left to do as he pleased. Why? because Williams knew it wouldn't hurt them.
Agree with Patto though. Has a heart as big as a footy.

  • JON - nothing great.
  • Cleve - same.
  • King - got a few easy pozzies and he tried hard - should keep his spot for next week.
  • Howat - did much better than he's been - 5/10.
  • McGuane - has great endeavour but his kicking worries me.
  • Pattison - was up against it - good effort and not the worst.

-JON's decision making skills are horrible, I think. I have question marks over why we got him out of every player we have recruited. I think he could possibly be the most dissapointing of the lot. His game today didnt consist of much promise, I dont think. Too lightly framed.

-Cleve lacked opportunity however he didnt do much at all. I'd like to see him stay though. Or, maybe just to let him know, get Riewoldt in and Cleve out just for this week? Big Cleve fan though.

-King kept his spot for next week. He wont be part of a premiership side though. Purely the lack of depth shining through, I think. Hes a real goer though.

-Howat played well. Tried hard, ran all day. Wasnt damaging though.

-McGuane was quite and played all over the park. Not sure why. Bet hes feeling the pressure with the absense of Gaspar.

-Pattison was good. Rucked probably better then what I've seen him ruck in the past. Was against 2 great players in Lade and Brogan. 2 good contested marks aswell.

On the face of it a 40pt loss at AAMI against a red hot Port when missing the still likes of Coughlan, Brown, Simmonds and Tambling isn't that bad.

I reckon there is plenty of supporters who are still carrying on their wrath from last week.

JON - really needs another season at Coburg to start working on getting leather poisoning at a lower level, which will help his disposal and decision making. His kicking will hopefully improve as he gets stronger...tends to float it using height to make up for power (AKA Campbell kicking;))

Cleve - lacked opportunities and decent delivery.

King - A mini-Fleming with all that goes with it - except the body strength.

Howat - another game of getting it plenty and doing not much with it. His opponents ran around totally unmarked, got it plenty and did much more with it. If he had the frame and mindset to play HBF he'd do ok there - he could kick it 30-40m to unmarked opponents. On the wing, going into attack and trying to spot up a player or kick to advantage, he's more often a liabilty than not. Can't make a tackle stick to save himself and can't impose himself physically on the contest. The latter wouldn't be a real worry for his long term future if he was 18-19 - he's 22.

McGuane - very average game. Lacked awareness which led to errors, beaten to the ball a lot. Can't stick a tackle. Once again alternately outsized by his opponent and beaten for pace and smarts. In his defense, our defense has for a long time been a horrible place to be.

Pattison - was his best game in the ruck IMO. Got smashed very early on, but really dug deep to compete hard after that. Still improving, and will keep improving as his strength, fitness base and experience increases. Showed his best signs today that he can maybe grab the 2nd ruck position given time and encouragement. Took a couple of good grabs, sheperded the ball carrier well and showed good awareness in close. Good effort IMO.

LOL...yeah, so is Meyer apparently, not that he actually gets the ball...and Deledio...who was 10m behind White most of the time he spent on him, but looks like a Stawell Gift winner on his own. White's sprints to the bench are pretty awe inspiring.

Maybe we're recruiting a side full of blokes who are quick only when running to the bench...or 40m in the clear on the wing (quickly followed by a shocking disposal)...or in athletic shoes at draft camps and not on the ground wearing football boots? ;)

you tend to get that when you input data into a computer and rely on it to tell you that the player has skill.
gotta luv triers that want to look like innovators dont you? LOL...FFS TW, just get back to basics dude. I know you can see who is and who isnt of the required standard. You dont have to rely on a computer to tell you. I would even be tipping that the Greg Beck nemesis still prevails at tigerland. He ****ed us up for so long, and now he has sold us software to contnue to **** us up.
Earth to Richmond.....dont deal with anything Beck suggests. He has NFI about everything. ;)
